I hope that I am posting this in the right spot.I was wondering if someone out there can recommend a nice but affordable hotel in Ottawa.I am taking my daughter and her friend to see Justin Bieber in August and am quite worried about the cost of this little trip!

or check out trip advisor then book directly through the hotels site, generally they have the lowest prices anyways.

I used Hotwire for our Ottawa trip. While it did get us a better deal on our hotel than we could have otherwise gotten, still wasn't cheap by any means. We paid $150 a night for a small suite at the Holiday Inn in Kanata. By 'suite' I mean, a very small separate bedroom and a sitting area with a sofa bed.

It was nice enough, had a pool (which we required to keep our son occupied), but certainly wasn't anything fancy.

Looking back though, I would have paid the additional $50-$100 a night to stay in a hotel downtown. Kanata was just too far out, when we mostly wanted to spend our time downtown.

I just sent you a PM as I have a gift certificate for a hotel in downtown Ottawa that I won't be using. It's for the Crowne Plaza and includes one night and breakfast for two.

Zonny-I was actually thinking of staying in that area because its close to the concert...am a little nervous about parking at the concert and driving back to the hotel room if its downtown....but then I would really like to be downtown for the day and night before the the day of the concert....what to do???

Zinger - the Holiday Inn has a bus stop directly in front of it, it's next to the Centrum shopping area.

I don't think there would be anything wrong with staying downtown, although it will be more expensive. Do touristy things! Go to the Byward Market. Get a hotel with a pool and splash around for the evening.

    Zonny,
I know that the college residence rents out the dorm rooms during the summer I actually stayed in one a few years back. There is 2 rooms (2 beds) and a bathroom and a small kitchenette, fridge, microwave sink in each room. If you attended a college in Ontario I think you get a deal. But If I am not mistaken its like 50 bucks a night.

Just my two cents after living in Ottawa but Kanata is not where you want to stay during your trip. There is some shopping but most touristy things are in the downtown core. Parking where the concert is at will be $10-$12. The parking (at least for the Ottawa Senator games) is directed by security so it's pretty quick and easy. Just remember where you are parked. The bus system in Ottawa is great. If I were you, I'd save money on a car rental, stay in a hotel downtown, get the bus to and from teh concert (there's a bus shelter in the parking lot and they usually put on extras if they know there's a concert/event/etc.).
