Hi guys! I have some coupons from an insert for Starbucks products (to use at grocery store). Expiry is 01/07/2013. Is that January or July? January 7th would be a pretty random expiry date so just checking. I know that US companies sometime invert the month and day compared to Canadians

Thanks! Here's some guidelines from the national post
http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/10...ate-confusion/
Looks like US and UK are definitely different, but Canada's is iffy
. It depends on where in the country you live, and whether you are an immigrant because it means different things to different people. And it says the Canadian Payments Association will accept every format...
US uses month/day (like 9/11) and Starbucks is a US company. SO is that the best guideline to use? But US customs and military uses day/month, and they ARE the government
I wish they'd just print the name of the month outApply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

Certainly would make it easier for the us and the retail staff. In the same place on all coupons would be nice too and perhaps a little larger!!

So should we come up with a consensus? I personally do think that Jan 7 would be a really random date for an insert coupon to expire. Web ones I get have random dates because they depend on when you order. July 1 for the Starbucks makes sense to others? Which do you think is right?

I think that it is Jan 7th only because cashiers are trained to check the dates from month, day, year and I think that is what they will go with regardless of what Starbucks intended.

I've been wondering about these coupons myself. I don't know what the manufacterer intended, but whether it is accepted or not will totally depend on the cashier and/or their supervisor. Has anyone tried to redeem them since January 7th? I'm sure you could convince them to read it as July, but I find I get embarrassed when I'm holding up a line and hearing huffing and puffing behind me.
I need thicker skin!
