How's This For An Opening Line?

My computer died last week and I cannot continue writing the short story I was posting until I get my new one

but enjoy this opening bit from my new short story.



Noon came early that day, or so it seems now looking back on it. I still have trouble dealing with what I heard. The old man has been institutionalized for his own safety and yet his words shall haunt me till I go to the grave. I still see his face in my nightmares, so gaunt and filled with despair, as if all chance of happiness was revealed to be nothing but a lie designed to make us despair. In the end I wonder if the madness will take me as well but I must record what happened.
