One thing I keep meaning to try but haven't yet is to order a PharmaSave GC then use it to buy GCs not offered by AirMiles.

A couple of clerks I've talked to say the "think" you can.

Also, the write up on the AirMiles site makes it sound to some people like it's only good in Ontario or Eastern Canada but I think it's just poor wording.

If it doesn't work I can always send it to my mother-in-law as a gift.

Mind you, I can't seem to find the PharmaSave card on the site so perhaps they don't offer it anymore.

It would seem to me that if you buy a PharmaSave gift card it could be used anywhere in Canada. I know there's another GC with an "Ontario" only labelling that apparently works elsewhere.

Regardless, if possible it's worth 14.3 cents per AM. Most restaurant GCs come in at 12.5 cents. If you could use a PS card to buy restaurant GCs then you'd stretch your dollar by 14.4%.

I recall PS sells ESSO gas cards. With Shell being 11.43 cents/AM you could end up stretching the value by 26%.

But as I said, I haven't tried it.

Hmmm, interesting. Don't think we have a Pharmasave here, but I know in my mother's town about an hour away, they do. I get there often enough, it might be worthwhile. Have to check to see if that location stocks GCs or not, and maybe even ask if a guy CAN use GCs to buy other GCs

That's what I did ask and the clerks thought you could but that's unconfirmed.

The one up the street from me stocks several others that AirMiles doesn't like White Spot, Esso, Holiday Inn, etc.

I'd like to get the Holiday Inn as when I travel they are sometimes, but not always, a lot cheaper than Best Western for about the same quality.

The pharmasave/rexall gift card does work outside of Ontario. Haven't spotted any gift cards in Rexall yet. Our local Rexall is so sticky not sure you could buy different gift cards with them. Would be nice.

I cashed in AMs for Pharma plus GCs for a while, but they supposedly changed their policy so that you couldn't use them to buy other GCs. I notice, though, that it seems to be hit or miss by location - I suppose that's not much of a help I've had no problem using them outside of Ontario - I actually didn't realize that it had that note on the page until months after I started using the PP GCs here in MB.
