Just a heads up:
I bought a $100 GC from Safeway yesterday. Checking my bill today I did get 25 airmiles as well as a $5.95 Processing Fee charged to me. I called Safeway- their reply- no exchanges no refund read the "fine" print.

What kind of GC did you buy? Did you buy a pre-paid credit card???

Yes. Visa gift card as a birthday present. I called and was told no exchange no refund. I didn't know any gift cards come with fees. I have known some expire with time. I think this is a ripoff. Hard way to learn.

Yes, Visa is a rip off!!!

But the store specific ones do not come with a fee.

I did pay the fee for the itune deal a couple of weeks ago which was buy a $50 visa and a $25 itune and get $20 off. that made the $25 itune only 10.95... I got a couple for my hard to buy for teen nephews. They will be very happy and I am happy with the price! I spent the visas on groceries LOL.

no, you do not get any Airmiles on Safeway GC. See the find print on the flyer. It states Excludes Safeway gift cards.
This is the reason I never buy a Safeway giftcard. whenever they have GCs promotion with Airmiles the Safeway giftcard is always excluded (to my knowledge)


and then buy $100 worth of groceries?...
you can get Airmiles using Safeway giftcard.

Thanks- they cover the basis....but still not pleased that they don't tell you of the fees except by fine print. Oh well- won't do that again.
