Well bad news for those wanting yesterday's Group Buy, it looks like it wont go through, it needs 162 more buys, in 47 Minutes.

I debated the buy today.. but decided to go for it. I can get close to 800 AM on a good $100 shop @ Safeway (especially with something like the soap or vitamins).

I thought about buying today's but my wife says we have all that stuff already. I'm sure they'll do the $100 card again so I'll bide my time.

If you use 1 coupon on the Nivea you'd get 2 for $4.07 + 50AMs which is still a profit situation.

Okay, I have myself totally confused! I went to Safeway and purchased 20 pkg of Nivea Soap (had only 2x$2.00 off coupons but hey, better than none, right?) Anyway, the total with tax is $56.70. I ended up with 502 points (plus another 5 later on cause I used my Amex card). Here's where I get a little confused. If each airmile is worth 11 cents then the total amount of airmiles just received is worth $55.22. Then didn't I just pay $56.70 for $55.22??? That makes no sense to me!! I know someone (aka operabob) will set me straight! Thanks.

    Kelsie,

    Look at it this way:

You paid the equivalent of $56.70 -$55.22 = $1.48 for 20 packages of soap or $0.725/package.

    Why?

Because you can use the $55.22 Air Miles value to reduce your costs elsewhere by, for example, getting Shell Gas coupons worth $55.22 from AirMiles.com, So,

You paid for the soap (at a great price BTW) and get free gas.

In fact you did a little better than that. The actual averageexchange for all but 2 GCs at AirMiles is $0.1143 (we just round down to $0.11). So your 502 AMs has a real cash value of $57.38 at AirMiles.ca. You made a profit of $0.68.

    You were paid to shop.

    Hope this helps.

    5 for $10 right now.

Got the flyer for tomorrow.. not a lot of great Air Miles deals. The advertised group buy for Saturday is a Weber Q100 BBQ, retail value $149 - 750 Air Miles (125 available).

I had to still my beating heart and skip the soap. I am totally stocked up on Dove which cost me zip at LD... I really tried hard to justify more soap but couldn't LOL.

Oh well. I did stock up on pickles (I had great coupons) Yogurt, cheese (had coupons for thos too) and cream and some other needed things Hummus etc.. and got 275 points! So pretty happy about that. But so far I have avoided the auction site like the plague. LOL. I am scared I will be tempted.....

Paid $102.78 (phew to close for comfort...) and used $$23 in coupons!

Speaking of coupons. The summer is usually slim pickings. September it starts to pick up again.
