Oh good grief! Is that what sugar-free jello does to a person? LOL!!

Sorry if this is a duplicate. Thought it was quite interesting! I use my air miles for flights. Will check a little closer from now on!

We have flights booked for our upcoming trip and part of the trip is Winnipeg to New York through Air Canada (no westjet offer on Air Miles)
Air Miles charged me $397.16 in fees/taxes (2 people). Booking through Air Canada, the fees/taxes are $280.04. It also cost me 3300 air miles.
Don't forget Airmiles buys seats in advance and taxes are based on that but there is no doubt they add a "Loyalty Fee".
The way I look at it is to go to the airlines website or Kayak ( http://www.kayak.com/flights ) and compare total price of the cheapest flight of the day with the cash I'd ended up giving to Airmiles.
The difference divided by the number of Airmiles needed for the flight determines the real value/savings. Anything better than $0.105 is a plus IMO.
Shorter flights seem to offer the best value.
My kids bmx race all over North America. I need to fly 5 people to Tulsa ok from vancouver over the American thanksgiving weekend next year for a race. We are also driving to Oregon, Washington and Nevada for races, starting in April. What's the best use of my am? Use for flights to Tulsa? Buy gas, for the driving trips? or use them to rent car when we are in Tulsa, or to get a hotels in the different places we travel to?

Marci,
Check the post right above yours.
If you can do better than $0.105 then use them for flights.
I read that in BC they don't allow airmiles with prescriptions. If that happens here, what would your thoughts be?
Greetings from pilgrimage in progress, in Las Vegas, NV. Was in a gambling establishment, and they played a BTO song, and remembered conversations on topic here. One song from BTO, and one from Corey Hart in two hours...just about right amount of Canadian content for me.
Then I thought about the slot club here, Bconnected, which works a lot like air miles...Tuesday was seniors day, and we got points multipliers, on gambling...these points translate into money (with no fees), which I'll cash in later.
Anyhow hope you guys were able to rack a bunch of miles up...66 today and sunny...I just got my Christmas present :)
Still haven't got a royal flush on video poker yet, but I'll keep trying!!
