Thread: PriceMatch Question - WalMart
-
Fri, Jan 2nd, 2009, 12:20 PM #1
So in an effort to obtain a $10 WalMart GC for purchasing $25 worth of cottonelle, etc. and get the most for my buck, I attempted to pricematch the 30% sale on Cottonelle products w my Shoppers flyer. The store manager pointed to the top and said "It's only an 8 day sale" ???
I have the understanding that WalMart pricematches sale prices - Am I incorrect?
And yes, I used the $1 off coupons too!
Does anyone happen to have a link to WalMarts pricematch policy? I am so going back!!!This thread is currently associated with: Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart

So what? If you are shopping within the 8-day period then the sale price should be matched....just my opinion. (Looks like they don't match % off sales though-calling those incentives "Gimmick Ads")
From the Wal Mart website:
http://walmartstores.com/317.aspx
Pricing
Does Wal-Mart price match?
Our goal is always to be the low price leader in every community where we operate. Our customers trust us to have every day low prices ... there's no need for "special sales." Should a local competitor have a special sale price on a product through a circular advertisement, the customer may bring that printed ad into the store and we will honor the price for the same item (all things identical, description, brand, etc.) . We do not except Gimmick Ads (Percents off, buy one get one free, you must make additional purchases to receive a discounted price, Loyalty Cards, etc.). Also, local competition is usually a radius area around a store and is determined by the Store Manager and the Market Manager.
Now.....do consumers have to print this out and bring it shopping to educate Wal Mart staff in addition to the coupon acceptance policy?????Last edited by Haleine; Fri, Jan 2nd, 2009 at 12:26 PM. Reason: .

I have never had a problem price matching %'s off or B1G1's...
interesting to read that they are not actually supposed to honour it...

they should honor the price match. most items that are posted in flyers are on sale for a limited time anyways. so i don't understand why the manager didn't honor the price match. go back and talk to him again. i have price matched many times before. all i had to do was show them the flyer and they always honor it.

I guess it must be a YMMV situation. I have price matched % off and B1G1 (free, 50% or 25%, etc) at Zellers without issue but have never tried at Wal Mart.
Interested in knowing others experiences with this price matching point!

I worked @ walmart, and their actual policy is NOT to price match % sales or use other store's coupons. They only match actual listed sale prices, although b1g1 still applies as long as it doesn't require another store's coupon.
It was drilled into our heads repeatedly. If a store does do the % matching then it is on their own merit but they are not suppose to.Join GROUPON for incredible deals, click here

"We do not except Gimmick Ads"???? If this is from their policy, then they have said the complete opposite of what they meant because they used "except" instead of "accept".
Methinks a lesson in the english language would be helpful to their policy writers.
If you were to take this policy into the store, you'd have to lug a dictionary along too!Joining swagbucks will add richness to your life! I've got over $1,000.00 in gift cards so far. Please join me! http://swagbucks.com/refer/Jayne300

Went back and re-read the actual policy, and yes, the writer has double negatived the meaning of the policy exactly as you indicated.
Now who is being overpaid, the cashiers???? LOL!

Hey, that means that they do accept special deals because they are stating that they don't except (means exclude) gimmick ads. etc. I have never had a problem at Zellers, or WM with price matching. I just take in the ad, and as long as it's current, they take it. You can also get price matching at Petcetra for any of the pet stores. That way you get their buy 10 bags and get one free deal.

Do we need to go to customer service to have items price matched or do they do it right at the cashier?
Also, does this mean if I search my flyers and pick out all the best prices from a variety of stores, they'll match all of them?
Thank you

on the back of walmart flyers it clearly states that price matching is not applicable to clearance sales, combination promotions double or triple coupons, after-sale rebate offers. it also says We reserve the right to limit quantitirs. Walmarts ad match may be modified or withdrawn at anytime without notice

I noticed today when pricematching Walmart they don't beat the prices by "2 cents" anymore. Must be pretty new, cause a few weeks ago I got my 2 cents! LOL
Are their profits being hit that hard that they can't add match and give you their 2 cents?

I've worked for Walmart for 9 years and during that time I cannot recall ever giving 2 cents off to customers when price matching
