So... We went to the grocery store this week and I was fated to go into the "B!tchy cashier" line.
I'm holding the baby and my DH is unloading. He hands the coupons over to Miss Cash B!tch who gives him a dirty look. (you know the look) She glances the coupons over and sets them aside. He just looks at me curiously and keeps an eye on her.
She gives him the cash total and he asks if she applied the coupons. MCB says, "Of course I did" In a PMS tone. I'm getting antsy to just start giving her a piece of my mind but at this point I'm so tired I can't afford the little piece I have left. He pays and looks at the bill (we thought the bill was kind of high)... she never even applied the coupons! SO...she'd started processing the other persons groceries already (now I'm angry) and he says to her, "Stop what you're doing because you're going to reprocess my order properly with coupons applied" (Keep in mind he's 6'4 and he looks mean when he smiles)
WELL.. she had the effing nerve to turn around and say, "I most certainly will not, I would ask you to leave quietly Sir, you're holding up the line". WHOA... hold the damn phone. We asked to see her manager, this is ridiculous. If you don't know how to process a coupon, just say so and ask someone, don't lie to me AND keep my 32$ worth of coupons!
We explain the situation to the manager (as nicely as I possibly can at this point) and you could tell he was annoyed but I could care less, I wanted my money. When he understood I wasn't leaving until this was corrected, he made her redo it and had to show her HOW to do it.
This happened at Super C. I've no qualms giving them a bad rep, they have the WORST customer service I've ever seen. I've a number of "stories" which I could share but then I'll be angry all day.
I've written a formal letter to HQ complaining about both parties. I don't expect I'll hear back.
Can you believe she lied and expected us to not notice?

Usually I stick up for cashiers, but this is just plain ridiculous. I can't believe even the MANAGER acted like a jerk. I'm glad things worked out for you in the end. Maybe stop going there, it doesn't seem like a great place to shop!

My 1st real job was cashier so I know the crap they put up with. I always try to be considerate by shopping when it's quiet as I know the coupon thing can take extra time when you have a lot but this one girl... UGH.
It's the fact that she LIED. As if I wasn't going to check my bill.
Only reason I went back there is because they had a huge /sign out front saying 'New Administration'. I figured the stupid people had all gotten fired LOL. Fool me once, shame on me... huh?

I don't understand why she lied its plain silly everything shows on the receipt. Good job sticking up for yourselves, it does of course help to have the mini hulk towering over them I'm sure LOL

maybe she was being selfish, hoping you wouldn't double check your receipt and she'd keep the coupons for herself. it happened to me. but i let it go because i didn't lose anything. but for sure i'd never line up at her register again.

I'm always shocked when I hear stories like this. I used to be cashier, and I used to be really afraid of making people mad and confrontation. I would make people mad, by doing correct things, so I'd never pull a stunt like that.

I never even thought of that! *jaw dropped* WOW - that's low
There's another Super C in the vicinity, we've vowed to go there from now on. It's much bigger and it's a new building. I already checked and it's not the same owner/management.
I'm glad no SC'rs live close enough to me to shop there. I wouldn't want this crap to happen to others.
Last xmas I was having people over for a fondue dinner xmas eve. We ran to that Super C last minute to grab stuff we were missing. WELL! It's 4:40pm (they closed at 5) and as I walk in, one of the floor clerks says to us, "You better hurry and get out of here cuz we close in 20 min"
At first I laughed it off thinking he was trying to be funny. We encountered him in one of the middle aisles and he taps his watch and says, "I've told you to make it quick, are you planning on shopping much longer?"
If it weren't for the fact that everything was closing 10min later, I would have just left my cart there and walked out but I really needed my stuff for my dinner party.
Same xmas... another Super C few weeks back:
Where I work we 'adopt' families at xmas and all funds we raise during the year we buy groceries for. i/e turkeys, 10lbs potatoes etc... anyways... we bought 30 turkeys/potatoes/carrots etc... AND 1700$ worth of gift cards for the families to buy the perishables. The cashier at that point STILL made us pay for the plastic bags. We didn't even ask for bags for the full order, we'd brought boxes. We only wanted bags for the turkeys as they were frozen and we didn't want them to start thawing on the rest of the food. We spoke to the manager and he says to my friend, "Just because you have money doesn't mean you're going to get your way".
We now have an arrangement with another grocery store chain for this year. They've even agreed to donate 25c/lb per turkey so we could buy more food for them AND they will donate 10% of what we spend in GC's. The manager there was appalled at Super C's behavior.
We wrote letters to HQ and called for a follow-up... nothing.
