I am looking for a fairly inexpensive or as inexpensive as I can get but still be nice spot to get married this Christmas. We are thinking Mexico or Carribean so I thought who better to reach out to than my frugal friends on this sight If anyone knows of any good hotels, beaches or sights that are nice and warm around Christmas your input is so appreciated. We have 4 children so it has to be kid freindly. Also not sure if I put this in the right spot but I figured I am looking for a deal so this is where I post it lol.
    Thank you all in advance.

We got married at RIU in Punta Cana at the end of November 4 years ago and it was beautiful! Everyone loves the resort and it was a decent price (around $1800 per person).

I'd go to a couple of travel agencies and tell them roughly what you're looking for a get them to give you quotes. Sometimes you can get group rates depending on how many people are going.

Try to make sure the basic wedding package is included. They can get pretty darn pricey fast. Extra's like flowers and photography are crazy expensive so if you know someone who could do it for you that would be best (we had a friend who was a florist come to the wedding and the gardner took her out the morning of our wedding and he cut down anything she wanted, then she came back to her room and did up the bouquets - and another friend was our photographer. Way cheaper!).

    Good luck and have fun!

Christmas is one of the most expensive times. If you have any flexibility you might find it cheaper selecting different dates.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding. If your looking for inexpensive, go to cuba. The most beautiful beaches in the world. Very reasonable in price too. My DH and I have been there 6 times, it is soooo safe there. We have been to the Dominican, Puerto Rico, Mexico (several times), and numerous other places, but we keep going back to cuba. Hoguin is a beautiful place to hold a wedding. The sands are pure white and soft, the water is the most beautiful blue and so very clear. It is always hot and sunny.

Congratulations on your upcoming nupitals. I have to agree with hollyquaiscer that Cuba is probably one of the most reasonably priced Caribbean vacations for Canadians. I have been to Cuba x3 and am going back in November. Provided your guests are all Canadians (Americans are not allowed to travel there), this might be a destiination to consider. Two resorts that I have been to that had many weddings while we were there are the Melia Las Dunas in Cayo Santa Maria, and the Playa Pesquero in Holguin. The next cheapest vacation spot is probably Puerto Plata in DR. The Iberostar Costa Dorada looks like a really nice place, but I have not stayed there (yet) -- I drove by though!. Good luck with your search for a perfect spot.

December is a popular time. You are leaving it a bit late, if you don't mind me saying. You might get a last minute deal, but then how much advance notice do the attendees need? Also factor in if it suddenly gets nasty this winter, a lot of people will be looking at going somewhere warm. It might be a good idea to be flexible about the dates. Have you considered getting married in the tropics and then having a larger reception when you get back home?

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. We are very open to suggestions as long as the places can be looked up online. Please everyone keep them coming.

go to Debbie's Carribean Vacations.com, real people (well we are all real, but these posts are mot from travel agents or hotels) who have vacationed at these resorts leave their reviews. Please keep in mind that some people will find anything, just to coplain, so you should read at least 10 reviews and make up your own mind. As far as Americans traveling to Cuba (if you have some coming to your wedding and you decide to go there) they are allowed into Cuba, they must fly to Canada and then fly to Cuba from here as they cannot fly directly to Cuba from the USA

Cannot give you advise on travel BUT ...

When you come back to Canada do NOT bring your fresh Flowers, they will be disposed at Customs and
for your convinience ask your hubby to bring with him as well receipts for Rings (Customs may asked to see it). Save you some time.
