Ok, so I have a question about Scop...
I was in walmart yesterday picking up an electric stove fireplace heater..they were on sale for 49 dollars..
so..I found the display with the $49 sign on top..was just happy to see some left being a saturday lol, grabbed one ...grabbed a few other things and went to the checkout.
The electric fireplace scanned at 69 dollars. so I mentioned it to the cashier...showed her the add in the flyer and mentioned the scop.
long story short, they doubled checked to make sure I had the right one..it turns out I didn't, someone had placed the item on the wrong display..likely someone who saw one cheaper than the one they had and traded it...leaving it on the wrong shelf ggrr, anywayyy.....................
WHILE they were checking on it, I was having a conversation with *a * cashier who would have had to approve the scop had it been needed..
She told me...if the scop applied it would be 10 dollars off of the *Scanned Price* of 69 dollars, not the Sale price of 49 dollars.
Which to me made no sense at all, why would I not then just pay the cheaper sale price instead of asking for the scop as well?
I told her I thought she was wrong lol,,,,,,so all you scop pros..
was she right or wrong? ( for my future knowledge lol
)

She was wrong. You get it off the correct price. Some places are more strict about what constitutes a SCOP. I know Superstore needs to verify that the shelf label (upc#) matches the product label. Whereas, I have gotten a SCOP at London Drugs from a shelf tag that only had the price and item description.

you were right.. it's off the advertised price not the scanned price
scop is in addition to honoring their sale pricesWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Its off the shelf price, but the shelf price has to at least have a description matching the item(they always check UPC at Wm)
I almost always have this issue at Wm, print the entire code from the retail council of Canada's website, clearly states its on the ticked price, having it helped me on several occasions. The 1 paragraph they have at the cash contains no details at all, it's pretty useless.
Last time they were all convinced that I got the first one free and the rest were at scanned price, i hate the lack of training on scop

I realize it didn't end up applying in this case, at the time of the conversation we were not aware of that yet, it was being checked on.
However....it's more that *had* it applied it would make no sense to me to have it 10 off the scanned price, the whole point of scop is for instances when an item goes on sale, the sale price should be in the computers..and if it's not...the scanning code of practice comes into play.
it should be off the *correct* price at the time, if it's a sale..then off the sale price.
I would have ended up paying ten dollars more than the sale price under her terms of scop. why would I want to do that??

yup ... ALWAYS check UPC code (item & price tag/label) several time items are just misplaced on shelf and it is easy to grab wrong item and assume incorrect price.
I also find out that most of the Cashiers are not informed on this policy, so many times you need to speak Customer service or Manager ...

Definately always check upc's I had a situation at WM a couple weeks ago.
DS was at home seriously sick with diareha, so instead of contantly washing underwear I decided to run to WM to pick up a pack of easy ups, I thought I seen a sign that said $17.97 so I said ok, I had the $3 coupon and we desperately needed them. Got them home, started using them. Looked at my receipt the next day and they rang in at $19.97 so I took back my receipt on my next visit (2 days later) and looked in to it. Turned out someone changed the price of the girls pull ups and NOT the boys. Needless to say she used SCOP, so after SCOP and my $3 coupon they only ended up costing roughly $6!!!
