Thread: Stumbling Through

I'm a newby...figuring all this out as I go. I'm finding that there's actually quite a lot of knowledge required for this couponing stuff. I have a feeling I'm making newby mistakes. Like, the other day I bought something I didn't really need -- because I had a coupon for it!
Today wasn't too bad, though. I got a SDM Optimum card. I bought items that were on sale and used coupons with them and got points.
I'm watching the flyers and I'm putting together a "rock bottom" prices sheet to help me. Grocery stores are good at telling you -this is a good deal!!!- but in reality...it's not that great.

Welcome! There is certainly a lot with couponing, it takes awhile to figure it all out. I have found this site to be so helpful. Don't worry about mistakes-we all make them! Like, did I really need all that shaving cream? Or, why didn't I check the flyers before using that coupon on a regular priced item?
I'm not so concerned with getting the "best" price all the time, as long as I know I am getting a deal every time I shop, I am Happy!
Good Luck To You!

Hi ! Welcome to SC..I too am a newbie and am learning a lot from this site. Big mistake the other day too.....I bought a swiffer vac with a 20% off coupon (good for 2 more days) and a $5.00 off coupon. I thought it was a great deal ! The next day I discovered it was on sale at an additional $15.00 off
....would have been nice if the teller would have said something. Lesson #1-check the on-line flyer before you purchase.

wapos2, I believe there's some sort of rule out there...that if you purchase something and it goes on sale right away, you can go back and get the difference. I'm not sure where I heard that. I worked at LD a few years ago, so perhaps that's their policy?? I'll try to find out...

Thanx jchandler
. I would really like to know if I could take it back with receipt and get the difference. $15 less would sure have made it an awesome deal.

Okay...I called my LD (not sure where you made your purchase), but I said, "If I've just purchased something and then I notice it goes on sale, can I come in and get the difference/that sale price?" And they said Certainly! Just bring in your receipt. When I asked about the amount of time...I didn't get a certain reply but she did mention within 30 days (for some things)!!
Can you imagine buying something and noticing it on sale 3 weeks later, going in and getting that price?! Well, I wouldn't go by that for sure, but next day is a definite there.
Hopefully good news for you depending on where u bought it. U might need to call their CS.
