My 4 year old grand daughter knows that when she goes shopping with grandma, it has to be either free or almost free with cpns....... or fweeeee as she says it!!

Anyhow, she has been away for the past 3 weeks with her mom visiting in Vernon. I drove there on Friday to pick them up, to continue on Saturday to our yearly Fairmont Hot Springs timeshare vacation week.

We drove first to the mall where her father works, to say good bye and I decided to wander into the Clairs accessory store to find some cheap hair elastics and clips for her. She tends to lose them all the time....lol!!

and...... the car was packed full with all the bags, toys and things they took in the first place....not much room.......lol!!

I did first my stacking at Save on Foods, which was easy peasy and great...wish that store was in Calgary already!! 2 x 2 litre LActaid milk at $2.50 each is a steal of a deal....... did a multi stack with VH sauces, vegs, meat, VH steamers, got the meat bradworst 2 x pks for $1.50 each..wasa B1/G1 deal......yum!!!

So..........back to my grand daughter in Claires, she helps me choose clips and elastics, and a flower clip for her mom, 10 for $10....... great price......then walks up to me with a kids toy in her hand......perish the thought, after checking the price its $15......arrgg!!! I say no...of course........and ask the sales associate to put all my things on the counter while I think about them.......... and the darn SQUISHIES kids toy.

On second though , I re examine the package, see its 16 small oh so cute squishy little animal figurines in round clear cases to store them. Decide to buy them for her and got a $1.00 zip storage case to carry them in as well.

Fast forward I check with her mom and Sadie show the Squishies pack to her.....sure enough it was the same pack that she had asked her mom for a week earlier and had a huge melt down because she would not buy it!!

    Grandma got sucked in.....LMAO!!!!!!

Anyhow, we settle in the car for our over 6 hour drive to the vacation resort and Sadie has her 16 colourful little Squishies in her bag and is happily playing with them............all the time.......even in the dark. We would put on the light in the car for a short 5 mins, and down went her head, looking in her bag at all the little goodies in them.

We arrived with her backpack filled with her toys, but no........ the whole time she has been playing with her Squishies....... day and night!!

She has the vivid imagination of a 4 year old, and even something like a hair curler roll has become a slide tunnel for the little animals to go thru!!

We could have arrived with nothing else....but for that $ 15 pack of 16 little bright colourful figurines which has been worth its weight in gold..

God help us when we leave.......as the original 16 has now become 12...sometimes 10 then back up to 11 as they are so darn tiny, the size of my thumb nail, that they keep hiding on us......lol!!!

The moral of this long winded story.....sometimes its just darn well worth spending the money without a coupon!!

Aw, how sweet! And, yes, I've been reminded of the same thing by my son - sometimes I 'forget' that it's not all about couponing and getting the cheapest...
