Hmmn, it sounds like she doesn't even have a key.
I would tell the mother it's not your responsibility and to hide a key.

She definitely has keys. Two months ago she lost her key and her mom had another one made. Unless this one is lost too.
When her mom phoned today and left a message she said "If your home, could you answer the door for X, she forgot her key today, thanks"
I'm guessing she phoned her mom and she in turn relayed the message to me.
Tomorrow I don't plan on being around.Last edited by toban; Mon, Oct 24th, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Reason: wrong wording

So ridiculous, like can't she attach it to her bookbag and just leave it on there?
Either way I'd put my foot down.

bahahaha thats totally us. We are not neigbour friendly. They lost that chance when they called the town because they didn't like how our eavestroughs were. Like we bought the house like that, they never talked to us nothing... just called the town on us! We didn't even know anything was wrong!

Is she not ashamed she has to bug you so often? Do they repay you for being available? I'd tie a key to her cellphone, i'm sure she never loses that

Lol! No she never loses that. She's usually walking and texting while coming home from school.
I looked after their cat for a week for free not long ago and once during the summer. I love animals so I don't have a problem with that. The only thing I notice if I need a favor from them, (very rare for me to ask), it rarely is reciprocated. Or their wishy washy about it.
I'm at home today and guess what?! She rang the doorbell and knocked a few minutes ago (I know it's her by the way she raps on the door). She can't see me since I'm in the computer room. I didn't answer..Last edited by toban; Tue, Oct 25th, 2011 at 05:10 PM.

lol, good for you. She will never learn if she knows there's always someone else she can rely on to let her in. Let her wait until her mom comes home. You said that they have a sun room...so it's not even that bad. I agree with others; give them their key back. Maybe she'll get fed up with being locked out and make her mother hide a key or even start remembering to bring it with her.
She's SIXTEEN for goodness sakes... time to learn how to be responsible. I had a house key since I was 11!
I'm surprised her mother is okay with her forgetting and losing so many keys.. I know my parents would have is totally peeved off and changed the locks! I once forgot my keys at home and was left sitting outside in the rain for 2 hours. I learnt my lesson fast. :D
