I'm sorry to hear you've lost Fluffy. It sounds like she lived a wonderful life. My first died when she was 17, soon after the vet discovered a lump. I still think there will never be a cat quite like her. I'm glad you were able to take care of her for so long and so well.

Thanks every-one...I keep looking down expecting to find her at my feet. I'm not sure how I'll manage to cook without her being helpful...

Sorry to hear this I've been through it too many times myself. We have had up to 5 at once.

We are the type that had to rush out and get another one right away. It was so empty in the house even though we had others. SOme people are of the "never again" because it's so painful to go through. To each his own, time will tell, but I think a house is not a home without pets.

(((hugs)))) to the kidlets and you

So sorry to hear about your fur-baby. I am happy your family was able to be there with her when she passed though.
I will admit I teared up reading your story about Buddy nudging her and trying to comfort her and see if she was alright.
Pay lots of attention to Buddy - you and he both need it.
Good luck on the healing process.

Us too, but with just a 19 y/o cat in the house I probably would wait, it may be too much stress on them to deal with a new cat. Saying that, I already have my eye on a little orange fluffy

Thank you all again for your thoughts.

The girls are surprised that people who I don't know in RL, except Patty and Kelly, have responded so warmly to our loss.

Buddy is the Cat Who Walks By Himself. I don't plan on introducing another cat ATM. Though the neighbour's cat keeps trying to get into the house but Buddy hates him.

Still thinking of you - simply because I know how difficult this is. It's been months since our cat died, but honestly I still expect to see her on the cat perch thingee when I walk in the living room - and scold her for opening all the cupboard doors!
Hopefully your Buddy will be kept busy by all of you, and not get too sad - over the years, we've had the remaining cat react very differently with the loss of one...

Hugs to all of you! And give Buddy an amazing belly rub from me!

DP. . .I just want to say how unbelievably sad I feel for you. I went througha terrible time losing my furbaby last summer and everytime I think of him it feel like a knife in the gut. HOWEVER, it does get better. Keep reminding yourself how great of a life you gave him. In time, you will be able to smile at the memories and cherish them.
You're in my thoughts and obviously you can see how many care. .. .

I'm so sorry for your loss Just over 3 years ago we had to put our family poodle (Peanut) to sleep. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. He was almost 18 years old and we'd had him since I was 7.....so I didn't remember ever not having him around. I cried for days.....usually at the drop of a hat.....and sometimes I still tear up when thinking about him......and to this day I refuse to watch/read Marley and Me (it came out at roughly the same time). I keep pictures around though.....and countless fond memories......even my crafts/work from school when I was in grade one and always spelled his name Peanote, lol.

Sending you and your family hugs and warm thoughts.

Losing a pet is in a way (to me) losing a family member. I lost Patch when I was a teenager and cried ever night for 3 months plus. It took 10 years before even considering getting another cat and if Casper died tomorrow I would most likely react the same way. I’m still shaken about Sammy and she was with us a short 2 months before running away.

    Again, I’m sorry DP
