I have used plastic money in other countries when we travel, but never really thought I would see it here. It makes total sense as it will definately last a lot longer, will just take some getting used to today. The new $100 bill is out today with the $50 and $20 coming next year. Do you like it?

I think it's a fine idea; other countries have had them for a while.
I can't remember the last time I even saw a hundred; it's hard enough to use a $50 at stores sometimes!Last edited by Natalka; Tue, Nov 15th, 2011 at 05:29 AM.

At least now stores will start taking 50's and hundreds again. It's a royal pain in the butt expecially because many bank machines don't give 20's. They look cool too.

(and no loonies or toonies!!!)
wondering if it might be all the coke on the bills that
keeps them from changing

'The currency will begin with the $100 dollar bill, which will be in circulation by the end of Nov. 2011. Following this will be the $50 bill in March 2012, and finally the $20, $10 and $5 bills, which are expected to be in circulation by late 2013. By 2014, polymer bills will be the main form of currency in Canada, replacing our current paper currency.'

Our ATMs only give 20s. But it would be nice to not see the signs in stores anymore saying they don't take 50s.
Oy, and here I was only thinking about the times we've washed my husband's wallet and that it would be better with the new money - never thought about the dryer being a bigger problem with the polymer!
