I am hoping someone will be able to point me in the direction of a good deal on bread machines. Mine has given up the ghost after 5.5 yars (so i can't complain). But I really don't want to spend more than $50 as I recently lost my job and I'm being careful what I spend. I have looked in Zellers and Walmart so far and they are all $80-$90 which i just can't justift at the moment.

    TIA

Canadian Tire has them as well - as does Costco.
Not sure about the price though - sorry

try kijiji or craigslist. They usually have good deals, especially from people who get them as wedding presents and never use them.

thanks for the suggestions. The cheapest I have seen in stores so far is $69 at Costco. I looked on kijiji and there is one for $40 but it would be a 3 hour round trip to get it - what I save on the machine, I'd spend on gas. I'll keep on looking

WOW, that is a good deal, I hope it comes on sale somewhere near me soon. The one that just died was the 1.5-2lb one and it cost me $90 when I bought it.

If it's this one, definitely NOT a good deal.

My original machine was a Black and Decker, paid $20 for it at a yard sale and used it for about five years. It was great, and then the paddle got lost. Paddles are expensive, so I decided to buy a new machine and bought that one on sale at Canadian Tire.

It SUCKS. My recipes that I'd used over the years with my old machine don't work in this one, the paddles sometimes come loose when it's mixing, and it always sounds and smells like it's burning out when it's running. I rarely make bread anymore, because my machine sucks and I don't want to spend the money on another one right now. I'd avoid B&D at all costs, unless you find one cheap secondhand.

I actually have a bread machine that i use from time to time but just recently i've taken to doing it by hand - i triple my old recipes so that i can pop the extras into the freezer.
Its really easy ...i watched an online video to make sure i knew what to do and ...voila!!...lovely lovely bread!

Try second hand stores or pawn shops. I have seen them new at both.
