Trading points seems to be a very common practice on SC so I wouldn't even second guess it.

Having those points stolen means, for some people, having $1000+ stolen from them... I have nothing but sympathy for every person affected.
i agree with you sheets. I've never traded points but prior to SC I'd never traded coupons by mail either. Like most here, we've come to trust our SC community and while we'll have a tiff here and there and trolls popping in now and then, I haven't seen anything as ugly as this type of theft. To have $1000 ripped off you on the street is terrible enough but it feels so much worse (in my mind) to know that the person who ripped you off could be one of the "trusted friends" (whether on SC or not since people trade points with other friends/family too). Clearly, for those cases where a redemption was made (so theft is known for sure), it's very discomforting to know that someone tracked your info for this purpose. It's sickening and my stomach is in knots each time I read an update.

I'm so sorry for those affected and the stress it has caused. I truly hope you'll each find your own way in dealing with it/grieving the loss even and building trust again. for you.

Edit: re-reading I understand that not everyone previously traded for points or anything so it makes it more confusing and stressful. Truly hope for a good resolve for everyone.

And OP, I hope you're still able to get some resolve here and not lose out completely on those lost points

Do you have any answer for your lost points??

    Hello Leymi,

Thank you for writing to us. We have received information from our Loss Prevention department in regards to the point transfer made on your card. Upon investigation of your Optimum account, we can see suspicious activity of multiple transactions made to and from your account from the result of possible point trading, by disclosing personal information to others that would allow them access to your Optimum account. As per the Terms and Conditions of our Optimum program, "Shoppers Optimum Members cannot share their account number and account information with anyone else," "Shoppers Drug Mart reserves the right to limit the transfers from a Shoppers Optimum account," and "Except as permitted from time to time by Shoppers Drug Mart, Shoppers Optimum Points cannot be assigned, exchanged, purchased or given by gifts. Shoppers Optimum Points cannot be sold, traded, bartered, rented or otherwise disposed of. Shoppers Optimum Points are voided if sold for cash or any other consideration." Unfortunately, for this reason we will not be adding the 95,000 Optimum points to your account.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Customer Service Call Centre at 1-800-SHOPPERs should you have any further questions or comments or require immediate assistance.

I'm not pointing to anyone to do transfers with me, and I was thinking that was a technical problem of SDM page updates, but they send me this about my inquieres of the points lost.

I don't know what need to do, all seems like they don't want put back any points even if was a technical problem. Because I saw and I read in the forum that many people didn't transferences lost their points too.

Do you have any advice for me......

    Thanks in advance.
So sorry to hear about this!

I would suggest you to just keep calling them....
Hopefully they will give return (some) points as goodwill!

RAOK or not, no members should ever be giving other members personal information out without their knowledge or consent; is that not a rule on SC? If it isn't, it should be.
I agree with this. I'm all for RAOKs and understand why some want it to be a surprise (and it still can be). But yes, knowledge or consent is a good idea.

Maybe you should read everything posted here as there is multiple people who has never given out their account #'s or traded any points so your theory is out the window

I have never traded for SDM points. I won a contest for a $5 Amazon.ca gift card, and she hadn't realized she could not send it once it was deposited to her account, so she offered me the equivilent in SDM points. The second time was during a train when someone did not send me all the coupons required and offered SDM points to make up for it.

At the time, it never occurred to me that someone could steal my points. Luckily both times the person was a well respected member of the community, so I'm not worried about my points being stolen. I did give my Optimum number out to the person offering 50x1000 points in a RAOK thread, and if I had had my points stolen, it would have been my fault completely.

Since all this occurred, I've decided to sign up my DH for an Optimum card and I'll keep all my points on there instead, which is why I asked on the SDM page if it was okay to transfer between two cards. I do not understand how I can be told, "That's absolutely fine." when the OP was told that it is not. I see someone else has asked about this on the Facebook page, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the rep responds.

Honestly I can't blame anyone but myself for my missing points. As sad as it is you can't trust anyone and that being said no one will ever have access to my card number again! All I can do at this point is pray sdm returns my points.

I know a lot of people are putting the blame on the people who lost their points but a few didn't do any trading at all. I don't understand how one can say transferring is fine and then OP is "punished" for it.

Fair enough, I tried it and it is TRUE!

Wow - finally. Although it really does make me wonder why they waited this long and if it has anything to do with what happened here...

well i can speak for myself, and i don't think it was right or that there was some twisted deserved punishment for anything.

i do think it is very important to start looking at the technicalities and liabilities and responsibilities of both sides.

i don't have the time to do this, but i am sure someone can figure out exactly what can and cannot be done to make sure that ppl get their hard earned points back, or compensation. it has a little to do with SDM, but i think it has more to do with locating ppl who pulled this scam.

there are always things that are not covered by a policy, something is missed somewhere in lots of cases. finding those holes will allow ppl to hold SDM more accountable for certain issues, at the very minimum giving more info on the ppl who pulled the scam, even if it is fictitios. that would be a start.

i have been going after SDM for something through certain government bodies. it can be done, you just have to fully understand all the points involved. my issue is not resolved yet, but it is a major issue and if i am proven right it will mean much for ALL SDM customers.

    good luck to everyone

I really hope OP calls back and speaks to a different CSR later today and ask some of the questions we've posed here.

And I really hope your issue is resolved quickly and to your benefit!
