DD1(13) wants an art set for Christmas but not a child's one.
So I'm looking for an art supply shop preferably Montreal or North Shore.
I'm also looking for ideas as to what to buy. I'm thinking of several grades of paper, pencils, coloured pencils and maybe some type of paint and brushes...This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I agree with AnnieP - Omer Deserres is amazing. They have everything. Just be really careful that you don't buy stuff you don't need (happened to me - I never did start scrapbooking!).

L'Oiseau bleue too has amazing craft products. They're located on the corner of PIE IX and St-Catherine.

Another vote for Omer Desseres. The one I go to has super staff that help guide me to the appropriate products. It would seem they either hire artists or train their employees really well.

I definitely agree about Omer Deserres. You should go there to check it out.
And Christmas time is great for art kits since that's when they tend to sell the most and thus have more choice.
If you want to build your own, then:
sketchbook, paper pads, tin of drawing pencils, erasers, set of pencil crayons, charcoal, pastels (dry or oil or both), tubes of paint (red, yellow, blue, white are good to start), paint brush set (or buy individual), maybe watercolor paints and paper.
I assume she likes art, but doesn't know which area interests her most yet. If you get a small part of each area, she can play around with each until she figures out what works best for her. That's why premade kits are so popular, it includes most things.

would go to omer deserres, or if you want to go to Cornwall, Ont. or Ottawa, they have Michaels (and they have great weekly coupons) often 40 or 50% off one reg. price item. -50% coupon valid this weekend

Oh my goodness...I went to the Laval shop and spent well over an hour just browsing .
I bought a combo easel/storage set , watercolour crayons and some paper..DD1 is getting some money for Christmas from her grandparents so I'm going to take her to either that one or the one in Pointe Claire if she wants/needs anything else.
She wants a book on drawing techniques for manga but the only ones I could find were in the children's section and she's drawing at that level ATM.
