Yes. Unless the store owner/manager put a sign at the cash register advising them not to accept credit cards as a method of payment for gift cards. Each SDM store has a different owner and they can make up different rules. Most of the stores in my area have no problems accepting credit cards when you want to buy a gift card.

Sweet - I was planning on getting gift cards for my nieces this weekend for their Christmas and Birthday gifties. The bonus points for me are a sweet incentive to visit SDM once again

I buy GCs every month for my bus passes, will probably buy them early this time to get the points.
Here in Halifax, I know of one SDM that will not let me pay for my gift cards with a credit card. But the store I regularly visit will.

Apparently bonus points will be added only if you pay cash. Credit cards cannot be used.

here is the fine print from the SDM website...the points won't be awarded until Nov 19th...I guess you can't even use a debit card...
Offer valid Saturday, November 6, 2010 to Friday, November 12, 2010.
Points are issued according to the net pre-tax purchase of eligible products after redemptions and discounts and before taxes using a valid Shoppers Optimum Card®. Points to be awarded to your account by Friday, November 19, 2010 for eligible transactions. Calculation excludes Shoppers Optimum® MasterCard® points. Not to be used in conjunction with any other Shoppers promotion or offer. Gift or financial cards may not be used to purchase additional gift or financial cards. Bonus points will not be issued for transactions in which a gift card or a financial card is used as tender to pay for additional gift or financial cards. Some conditions apply. Offer valid Saturday, November 6, 2010 to Friday, November 12, 2010. See store for details.

Actually I read that (bold) as meaning the points they're telling you you'll get are only based on your purchase - if you use the SDM MC they award those points separately (MBNA does it).
For the second one, I think they mean that you can't use a gift card to purchase another gift card; by "financial card", I have no idea...best guess would be that you couldn't use a "vanilla MC" (which they sell) to purchase more GCs.
Does that make sense?
