Today marks FIVE YEARS since I quit smoking.

Miraculously, I managed not to kill anyone during the nicotine withdrawal phase (and yes, it sincerely surprises me).

Looking back, I find it difficult to believe I ever spent upwards of $60 a week on such a bad habit - especially now that I'm an SCer - and since my family members (who hounded me to quit, I might add) don't remember the date, I thought I would indulge myself with a little self-congratulatory pat on the back.

Thanks everyone. When I think about all the money...I'm just horrified. And to think I thought I was SOOOO smart when I figured out that buying them by the carton and saving about the cost of a pack (around $7, at the time) was a great deal.

Honestly, though...how I managed to not kill anyone while I was going through the first month or so still baffles me. I was, as one of my colleagues put it, "rage on legs".
