Okay, for anyone wondering what the heck we're talking about... it used to be that when the Smartsource reps put out the new coupons in a store that they had a contract with, they could go around and remove any other coupon pads that were stuck onto the shelves that they hadn't put there themselves. In other words, if another company rep had come around and stuck a few coupon pads to the shelf edges, the Smartsource people could remove them because they had exclusive rights to the putting of coupons on the shelves. Those rogue coupons were referred to as "cowboys".

That practice (SS reps removing cowboys) was stopped last year, which was certainly to our benefit. You may now see not only the Smartsource coupons on their distinctive shelf mounting hardware (that says Smartsource or Utilisource on it) but more of the random cowboys. BTW, coupons that are stuck to a free standing display seem to be more free of the in-store controls and restrictions on coupons. That's why a lot of the coupons that you may find at Walmart may be on the free standing displays because they are the particular company's property. Does that make sense?

That so explains why I found Jell-O, Cool Whip & Jell-O Pudding, and Christie Cracker coupons on a large display of Kraft BBQ sauce. They're all owned by Kraft. Neat, and although I still think it was an odd place to find them, lol, it makes sense now. Thank you mcminsen .

Found this lone cowboy in IGA on the shelf - no tear pad and I don't even think it is from there as this store doesn't even have these to sell

lmao - so we're actually girls gone wild, and couponing is just our cover? Brilliant! Save a horse, ride a cowboy? Strays are alright for Mr. Right Now... But Mr. Right has to be a thoroughbred!

I found some fun new(to me) cowboys today,,,but I'll have to wait until Tues to post, if they havent been already. I owe Jezz coupies for snagging inserts for me, and these will be a mystery for her to obsess over.
