Target announces first 24 Canadian locations

I went to the one in Westmount Mall(London, ON)and I must admit I am in love! It wasn't too busy I went around 11am. Love the selection of womens/boys clothing, shoes, and housewares.

Found Huggies Pullups box to be significantly cheaper than Walmart as well as some toys(Thomas & Friends).

Really enjoyed the friendly service and helpfulness of the employees! Bought a gift and got a gift receipt. I think it's a nice touch it has to and from on it for the recipient. Also noticed there is a survey on my receipt for a chance to win a $25 Target GC!

I saw the site of our Target in St. John's yesterday and it looks like they are doing some major reno to our Zellers. There are some walls down and you can see through it. I don't know what they are doing but I guess it will be a while before it opens

So, I went to target today.

I liked the layout of the store. I was pleased with the amount of toys and stuff for kids.
The grocery section was a bit small, not going to be one stop shopping.
They had some nice housewares, and the personal care section was decent enough.

The prices were slightly higher than Walmart.
I was not impressed with the fact that they are carrying many of the same clothing lines as Zellers....the girls clothing was mainly Cherokee. I did not look at the women's stuff, but it looked to be the same styles.

All and all, I doubt that I will shop there often.
They did not put one in my city. I have to drive 40 minutes to get to one, and it just reminded me of Zellers, but cleaner....so nothing special.

Although I'm happy to be getting target, I'm still not sure what it will be different then a zellers with a name change. I'm concerned that it will be like Walmart where it's totally diff from the stores in the states. Not even able to take advantage of their online shops either.

The main goal for me in Target opening is to give Wallyworld a good kick in the butt reality check. Up until now Wallyworld has done as it pleases with no repercussion to the consumer. They have basically touted a take or leave it attitude and I am frankly sick of their crap. Bring on Target. Yes I know they wont be saviours but at least us the consumer has an option now.
