Cheapest place would be second hand on usedeverywhere or craigslist or kajiji, you can look up past recalls on cribs i remember reading that all drop sided cribs were recalled BUT with a simple call you can order a piece that will prevent the side from dropping

Be careful about buying used as there are so many recalls on cribs.

We special ordered ours from walmart.com in the US and then did the free ship to store option and drove down to get it. We opted for the 3-in-1 model and a princess matress. All in all it was about $150 for everything.
Walmart in Canada sometimes have really good sales too. Or kijiji is a great place too! When we were in AB, I needed a crib/mattress that day so I had to buy from WM. I ended up selling the crib/mattress less than 2 months later for half the cost (and threw in a bunch of toys too) to someone from kijiji because we had to get back to ON. It pays to check out used options sometimes!

We picked out a more expensive model from Sears that is a 3-in-1 as well, but we got ours given to us at our baby shower. DH's family all chipped in to buy it for us.
I would really advise against getting a used crib. If even one little bolt or screw is missing it could pose a safety hazard. If you do decide to go that route, make sure you check all the product recalls, have a good look at it before handing over the money and I would suggest getting a new mattress because the last thing you want to deal with when raising a baby is a bedbug infestation!
