I was thinking thay Walmart should keep a bin at the front of their store all year round and let couponers donate things to it and at the end of the year they should match the donations received and give the items to a charity in their city the store is located..We should never only think about the less fortunate at Christmas but all year round..I wonder how Walmart would react to this idea...any suggestions?

That's a great idea, definitely talk to them about it.
Our Safeway has a donation bin, and we leave things there often.

I have seen donation bins at Metro, FreshCo and Loblaws for food items at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think I saw a toy donation box once at a Zellers store.
My friend told me that Cineplex in Bowmanville took personal care and toiletry donations at Christmas, for the Oshawa Youth Shelter.Last edited by Shwa Girl; Tue, Jan 31st, 2012 at 05:39 AM.

I hope eventually that all the retailers come to know this needs to be done all year round and I truly believe couponers can make a huge contribution

I agree! I would totally donate as I really love the rush of couponing and getting stuff for real cheap or free but I know I don't actually NEED all of it!

We have donation bins at most of our shops - Walmart included I'm fairly certain! The one at Safeway has a note attached to it: "THIS IS NOT A TRASH BIN"

The Walmart I go to in London has a donation bin also. I always see food, toys and diapers in it.
Step away from my coupon binder and no one gets hurt.
