does any one know someone diagnosed with MD ?

i know there are different MD the wet one in wich you one day wake up suddenly blind...and the dry one that take some times to become blind ( or partially)
i know everyone is different.....but ....how do they cope with it ? does it take long before they are almost blind ? and how to make sight stay longer or deteriorate less ?

My oldest sister (65) has it - but I think at this point it's mild for her. She's had a minor surgery, and still sees fine. Not too sure what her prognosis is, though.
