I've been collecting points for awhile and FINALLY was able to redeem my Visa Rewards Points for $200.00 worth of Future Shop gift cards! Hello new laptop! My current laptop takes so much abuse and it is now showing its age, so a new one is needed. I'll post pics of everything when the gift cards arrive
We also redeemed our Airmiles for $100.00 worth of Shell gift cards! And, I redeemed my Swagbucks for a $10.00 Starbucks gift card.
PS Thank you to everyone who has given me positive reputation comments - much appreciated

What a nice surprise for money you were spending on your credit card anyway.
You have reminded me I should go do the same.

If you can, try to get an open box, last yr I got a Sony one for $400 and ity was $500 +. Open box means - someone bought and then returned but nothing wrong with it! Check it out! Hope you get some really good deals!

Good for you! I LOVE my Visa points! We put everything possible on Visa, and cash in for GCs.
In October my birthday gift was my new smartphone (replacing my primitive six year old phone), which cost $150. I cashed in for $150 in Futureshop gift cards first from the points from our RBC Avion Platinum card. So in the end I paid just the tax and for the $10 case.
A few weeks later it was advertised for $50 less, so I went back with my receipt and got a price adjustment, another $50 GC that I haven't spent yet. Woohoo!
Isn't free money great?
Of course, it's only 'free' if you pay it off in full each month, the interest rate is pretty bad.
Oh, and a nifty feature of the Avion card - if you rent cars at all, the card covers the cost of insurance, no need to get the costly insurance from the car rental company. We don't own a car, but rent pretty regularly, this is a huge savings for us (and the main reason we got this card in the first place). We've even had to use it once when someone dented the bumper of the rental car quite badly in a parking lot and didn't leave a note. It was completely painless - they didn't even charge my card at all for the damages, just directly paid it.Last edited by Zonny; Sat, Dec 11th, 2010 at 08:20 PM.
