    Hello All –

Feetfrown, the guilt thing worked; I’m in from the shadows!!

Don't be fooled by the join date; when I went to register found out I'd actually joined Smart Canucks in July '07. The timing may have had something to do with my Dad, who was sick around that time (he used to play for the Argos - #53 hence my name).

I am not used to the posting, replying, private threading rules (yet) but I'll get the hang of it soon. However, even though I’m new to posting, not new to the thread. I’ve been gathering codes since the fall but really started paying attention to your non-winning word posts during the AC/DC contest. I feel I know you all very well.

I look forward to Loocie’s poem, want to hear how Tad did during his last Vegas foray, I voted for the dog in the Hallmark contest, have a few friends with kids with the same plight as Robyn, wanted to say to Wayne & TwoIron that it’s only about 88 more sleeps till we can get out again (in the GTA anyway) and PSells, wherever you are, your comments absolutely crack me up. I know I’ve missed a few regulars, but just wanted to say Hi to you all.

And if there was a single turning point, I knew I’d found the right forum during the “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly” discussion!!

Welcome Argo53. Glad to see you have come out of lurking.

Vegas was awesome (as usual! it was my 10th time there!) but since I went on my own, a lot of it falls under the 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!' category. hahah. Ended up using all the cash that I brought home from my trip in November. I can't complain tho since it was basically two trips for the price of one.

I did get called up on the stage during a show called 'Mental'. The guy was a mind-reader and called 4 of us up to the stage. We had to choose 1 of 4 chairs each. Then he had 5 numbered envelopes. 1 envelope had a cheque for $10,000 and the others had blank pieces of paper. After we chose a numbered envelope, he gave the remaining one to a member of the audience to hold. So basically we each had a 1/5 chance of winning the $10,000. He said if one of won, we would all go down to the casino and cash it and have to buy him a drink.

He had us open our envelopes at the same time. Of course, we all had blank pieces of colooured paper. Mine was yellow, the others had black, blue and red blank pieces of paper. He asked the audience member to open the last envelope and inside was the cheque. Unbelievable. Then he asked us to lift our chair. Under each chair was a matching piece of coloured paper (ie, yellow under mine, black under the guy holding the black piece, etc). Awesome.

I don't know how he did his mind-reading stuff. There was about 80 people in the audience and he guessed something about 40 of us. Weird abstract things. One guy he guessed was an engineer (retired now tho) and then said that guy had been in the Middle East and was offered a $250,000 bribe that he turned down. The guy admitted it, even tho it happened over 20 years before! Other things he guessed from other people were equally mind-blowing! Very cool.

Awesome to hear your dad played for the Argos! Too cool!

Sounds like you had a good time Tad. I love Vegas and have been there a few times myself and I have to say, coming home with as much money as you went down with ... that's a winner in my books. Now, if you can come home with as much money minus the exorbitant green fees, minus the cost of the shows, minus the cost of the non-comp'd dinners - that's a REAL winner!

When I went down in November, I did come home with a lot more than I travelled with (after the shows, clubs, drinking, dinner) which is what paid for this past trip. Looks like it might be awhile before I can trip down again.

I've got a really crappy connection that keeps timing out, so this is a public rep to Gold Lion:

"Giant reps are what you take ..."

And a big Dubai hello (salaam alaykum) to Argo53, glad you bounced in. Argo ... bounce. Well if I have to explain it just forget it. I gotta go have an oskie wee wee and go to bed (I was born in Hamilton - the white trash part).

And it is "Time To Say Goodbye" (or goodnight in this case), so I will leave you with this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6-jgoqC4FQ

I saw this a couple of nights ago from almost this same angle. I was standing next to the bridge you will see at the end of the clip. Words cannot describe this adequately. What sounds like cannon fire is the pressure release when the super shooters and extreme shooters fire the tall jets in time with the crescendos of the song. I have seen two of the seven songs so far and hope I can hang out there again this week.
