Here is an idea that saves money and trees. I have been doing this for a few years - cut up all of your Christmas cards using a mini-paper cutter (I use the craft type) to generate gift tags for next year!

It doesn't take as long as you'd think. I'm getting better at it, it maybe took me 30 minutes and I got a whole medium Ziploc bag stuffed full of gift tags. Depending upon the card, you can sometimes even get one from the back cover if it has a small design there.

With some of the fancier cards, you won't believe how beautiful some of the gift tags are!

Hope you like them as much as me

P.S. wasn't sure whether to post here or in Freebies?!?

I made gift tags this year as well. I also use the nice paper bags that I get from stores and glue a Christmas card over the stores logo to make a gift bag. For the larger bags you can use old calendar pics. I love the brown craft ones and I tie them shut with raffia for a country/rustic touch

I've done this the past few years. Haven't had to buy any gift tags, plus each one is original.

I reuse my Christmas cards to sent Christmas post cards next year. I just rip them in half and use the half that no one wrote on as a postcard

We used to do this when I was a little girl - but, since my mum was a seamstress, we used to use pinking shears. Then, when I had a special education class, we used to have a Christmas Bazaar and the children would make little packages of tags to sell. But I had forgotten all about them. Thanks for reminding me! I haven't put away the Christmas Cards yet.

I just use the small left-over bits of wrapping paper as gift tags. Sure, it doesn't look as nice. But it eliminates waste

I did this! All ready to to for next year. Also kept as many bows/ribbons/bags as I could for reuse. They turned out pretty good.
