What are reps and should I be replying to them?

Ok, this may be a silly question. What exactly are reps, and should I be replying to them or sending some to others? How do I do that? Thanks for any help.

Reps can be a way of just saying hi, or I agree with the post you made etc - really depends on the individual rep whether they need a reply

Every time you get a rep, you earn which when you have enough of them, turn into (then pink stars, and gold stars and then hearts)

how do you reply to a rep?

you click the name of the person in the 'posted by' column.. that takes you to their message page
if you click the thread name instead, that takes you to your post that was repped
