can't say how much her words/actions affect us
went to the first nephew's (21!!!) family birthday party yesterday,
bad part once again (lost count i think it's now 3), sil
stated i was not welcome there.
i have some sort of system that starts to forget confrontational
situations immediately - can remember bday boy saying
'grow up mom' and my brother saying 'lay off'
and someone asked 'what's your problem with ,,,'
and her answer 'i'll tell you sometime later'
which sounded familiar - think she said this the time they
had christmas and she flipped out and left for hours.
and really my sily life is an open book---then again,,,
went crazy because i made coconut date rice crispies
treat thingys that my mom used to make for christmas
and sil got upset that maybe the nieces may make a mess
eating them.
both of these times she acted like this with her parents, her hubby
2 boys, the other brother (who swore the last time - that was
it - his family was never going to their house again), his wife
and the 2 nieces, our dad and his gf hearing what she said.
and no one seemed too surprised except silly me.
took off for last smoke before drive home, found out from
19 year old nephew she does act like this when his friends
are over - so pathetic really.
he suggested we pick her a flower - i answered 'yes to
stick up her ass' apparently was the right remark as he
picked a flower for me, instead.
also mentioned how brother should just divorce her and kick
her out, and that i know he loves his mom but is very hard
to like her --- and that she needs meds.
hard to feel sorry for her but i do - must be a chemical imbalance,
she appears to have a terrific life really - brother has own company
they moved to a million dollar home last year on the end of a private
road, and i'd think she could do anything she wanted - but doesn't.
their 2 sons great kids, (still can't convince the older one that
it was he at 2 years old who said daffidillioes)
- him in college to be a paramedic, younger one going to carlton
to take psych - do remember saying to him maybe he can help
his mom, eeekkk.
sighing away to myself, ppphhhtttt.
great part of going up there, nephew was so amused at his presents,
i grabbed a baseball cap with a bottle opener on the brim,
for beer of course, from my us friends stash for garage sale,
and wrapped a stainless steel bracelet in it!
had a terrific time watching him open it and being careful.
he used the opener with the bottle i'd brought,
almost immediately - he is too sweet.
less then 5 minutes later noticed his brother had bracelet on
i knew it - he is more the jewelry guy - so have to get him
one now, and of course some money --- well i no longer
pay them swear money so saved up.
surprisingly or not he got a lot of beer stuff, gift card
(which of course the joke was a lifetime gc) and a
terrificly huge beer stein - maybe 3 beers could fit in.
had some great chats about the tvo saturday night movies,
don't think i knew the brothers watched them - even the
nasty sil.
so mostly we all had a great time till sil stopped slamming doors
in the house and showed up for the dinner part.

hard to think madona was the first choice for playing roberta,
also amusing sort of for me the poor brother took up the violin
4 or 5 years ago - meryl did it in 3 months and sounds better.
clink here if you have ever watching a meryl streep movie

I can totally identify with how you feel. Dad's second and third wives acted/act like this around me and my sis. We do like you do - rely on each others' support and the support of those who are a bit less cuckoo around us. It just stinks how people like that have to try to taint happy family memories. :/
*hugs* to you

I think there's one nut-burger in every family, Chives. The up-side of all this, is she's nutty with everyone, at least not just you, so don't take it personally...it really is HER, not you! LOL!! She obviously has some issues, and likely needs professional help to figure things out....

Poor girl is not happy in her own skin so she's taking it out on everyone else. I know it's hard to ignore her, but thats all you can do. Everyone is tired of her and her antics, only she can change herself. I know its hard, but if at all possible it would be great if you could be there, if and when she finally realizes she has a problem and needs help.
We all need a little sunshine every now and then
