Shoppers Drug Mart Dreamer
(please sing-a-long to the Oscar Mayer hot dog commercial jingle)
Oh my husband is a Shoppers Drug Mart Dreamer
That is what he truly has to be
Because when he is a Shoppers Drug Mart dreamer
All of my points going away from me.....
Hi everyone!!! I think my song just about sums it up!
My husband was so tired of our television in our room...well in his defense it is about 20 years old. So he saw the Shoppers Add and knew I was going and thought he would tag along for my shop.
Well my usual Shoppers that I love didn't have any in stock and I did my usual shop to get the few things we needed. I got:
Pampers Underjams $15.99 -$2.00 coupon
2x Cavendish Farms fries 2/$5
Bicks Pickles $2.99
Cottage Cheese $1.99
Oreo Cookies $1.99
3x Kashi Crackers $2.99 - 3x $2.00 coupons
Royale Tissues $3.99 - $2.00 (for Mom)
2x Dempsters Bread $1.99
2x Lays Chips $2.00 each
2x Neutrogena travel wipes $2.99 - 2x $3 coupons
Dempsters Bagels $2.99 - $1.00
Chocolate Almonds (gee I wonder who put those in there) $3.99
Total with Tax $47.99
Total Points 12200
So as we are leaving the store and I told him lets wait for Christmas like we had planned...nope off to the next Shoppers we go! They didn't have the TV in the add but a HD RCA one that was even better!! So I caved...but not after I got more stuff to make another 20x the points....lol!! I felt like I was on supermarket sweep!!
So next round we got:
RCA HD 22inch flat screen (our first one) sale $189.99
2x Kashi Crackers $2.99 - 2x $2 coupons
Pampers Underjams $15.99 - $2.00
Hunts Snack Pack (not shown...forgot in the car) $2.99
Life Brand Paper Towels $2.99
Tow Mater from Cars 2 (not shown....finding a place on the stairs for me to step on him) $6.99 (it kept our son quiet)
Total $245.73
Minus $170 redemption
Total Paid $73.72
Earned 10800 points
So in conclusion, leave the husband at home!!!

DEFINITELY ALWAYS LEAVE THE HUSBAND AT HOME.
Best piece of advice I can give to anyone looking to save money. Shop alone! I even warn cashiers of this when I bring DH along and his items always seem to ring in at so much.Insert Clever Signature Here

I agree completely! The first time I was going to redeem for $100, my husband came with me. I was planning to buy makeup and toiletry items that we needed. I had everything in in the cart when he insisted that buying electronics would be the best use of my points! I've only taken him once since then, and I made sure he knew that I was redeeming for $200 in groceries. He agreed, but then challenged it when we got there! "But why are you spending points on GROCERIES?" he whined as he followed me through the store. I told him that redeeming $200 for necessities SAVES us $200 we would have had to spend. He finally shut up when he realized that $200 took us to 1 1/2 cartloads of necessities and a box of chicken wings for him. I think he actually got a rush from the "extreme couponing" moment at the end where the Optimum card is scanned and the total drops to just the taxes! He doesn't usually like to give me much credit, but actually said "Good job!" as we were leaving the store.

Yay! New TV.
Don't shoot me but I am going to defend Mr. Koolaid. You got a nice TV, for basically points. And your old TV has done it's job well, and for a long time. Never met Mr. Koolaid, but I share his excitement about the TV.
About Tow Mater from Cars 2, that's funny.
Good shopping.

I'm with ya! Worse than the kids to shop with. Harder to say no.
Just joined Kiva.org, an organization that funds micro-loans to people in developing countries. I love the idea that the $25 I saved in groceries can be given to a fish woman with 5 children in the Philippines to help grow her business.
