I think I was 31. Reason being. . .when I was in my 20's, the interest rates were around 18 percent! We saved and actually built our own in the country. . . .for our dogs of course! lol

We were both almost 25, and we are still in that same house 29 years later.

22 and it was a duplex...I was single, but that didn`t last long..lol ... owner held mortgage at 12% when the going rate was 18% ..didn`t make out too good but was a life lesson I never forgot. Sold it at a loss..never made that mistake again
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!
I have nothing to do today and hope to be half done by noon.

36 and DH was 38. Just last year! We got a late start but we wanted to have a decent down payment and a contingency fund saved. Worked out well because we ended up buying in a totally different city than we were first considering and we love it.

In the neighbourhood where I lived, the small, semi-detached homes were selling for half a million. I lived in a property where I didn't have to pay rent (just covered property taxes, utilities, repairs, etc.) so I didn't really think about buying. On my salary, there wouldn't have been a chance!!
After DH and I got married, we rented for one year (when our lease ran out) and then began looking for a home. That gave us enough time to get to know our town well enough to know where we wanted to live.
