We hear about it all day here. So sick of it. The poor family. Of course all the witnesses for the prosecution are being humiliated too

MONTREAL -- Luka Rocco Magnotta has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing and dismemberment of Jun Lin in May 2012.
He has also been convicted on the four other charges he faced: criminally harassing Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other members of Parliament; mailing obscene and indecent material; committing an indignity to a body; and publishing obscene materials.
The verdicts came down today on the eighth day of jury deliberations at the Montreal courthouse.
Magnotta was charged with first-degree murder in Lin's death but Quebec Superior Court Justice Guy Cournoyer gave jurors the option of finding him guilty of second-degree murder or manslaughter.
The accused admitted to the killing but pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
His lawyer urged the jury to find Magnotta not criminally responsible after arguing he is schizophrenic and didn't know what he was doing when he killed Lin.

I'm glad to hear this. Hopefully Jun Lin's parents can find some peace in this.

Bless that jury and judge for delivering this verdict.
Defence is asking for concurrent sentences, but it would be nice if they were consecutive.
For first degree, it's life without parole for 25 years - then add the other sentences onto that, which could range from 2-10 years.

Jun's father, Diran Lin's victim impact statement (it's too long to post here).

Absolutely heartbreaking to read and Mr. Lin seems like quite a remarkable man.

Thank God! I didn't follow the case too closely because it's too horrible, but I was worried for awhile that he was going to be found not criminally responsible.
