squirrels are blooming in your yard?
well if we are just going to list things then there are plenty of dog turds in mine.
Just snow
Someone must have planted new grass seed in a section where the snow remover scraped the grass away. It was starting to sprout today.
I did't know much about gardening at first. But I once saw a very beautiful garden with all kinds of flowers so that I wanted to plant some flowers in my yard. Now I have plant many flowers in my yard. Hope they will blossom...
Crocus one is partially open now for a few days. Buddy crocus stalk next to it has no bloom bud. Might be waiting or maybe passing on 2015. Did some raking of spruce tips, cones and fallen branches (several under that melted snow) yesterday.
Rain (freezing in the am!) is coming tomorrow.
It was almost green grass here, then more snow this week...
I have this row of raised flower beds in my side yard that would be perfect for a small veggie/herb garden but the cubicles are packed solid, like concrete. I'm going to dig them out and start over with some fresh soil, what mixes do you green thumbs recommend? Any tips for keeping the soil in small raised beds from getting so compact?
Looking forward to getting back outside in the sun!
Just the start of green leaves for crocuses, tulips, daffodils and I am not sure what else.
If there were flower beds, chances are that the soil in the beds might be heavy on potting mix? You want to ensure not to grow any edibles in soil that contains potting mix. Wondering if there could be other growing aids in the flowerbeds that need removal or amendment to allow you to safely grow and harvest herbs.
If the soil is compact, could it also be reflective of clay? I discovered that some dirt I used for a planter from under a walkway paver had formed a nice brick in a planter after I had sown some herb seeds to grow on the front step. If the soil is that compact, you might need to budget for soil amendment annually to ensure there is something for the seeds to grow in and to feed.
You probably want to get bags of compost to enrich the soil and to turn it over prior to sowing seeds or putting small plants into the ground when warm enough.
What's the issue with potting mix in edible foods? Sorry, didn't know this.
As for what's blooming in my yard, it's been snowflakes, endless snowflakes. I can't see my yard. More coming tonight, to crush what remains of my spirit.
Dog poop :(
The snow is finally cleared and soon it will be flower planting season. Can't wait for the stores to bring our the gorgeous flowers
A tiny little cluster of Snow Drops and just one bright yellow crocus.
