...near the ROM. I think they may be out of my price range though because isn't it considered yorkville area? So I may be looking for something a little further out, but I would ideally like to be able to walk there since I know there aren't streetcars up that way that I can remember...If there aren't any in the area that are affordable, does anyone know how much approx. it would cost to take a taxi from either the train station or somewhere closer to the downtown area like maybe the Eaton Centre? Trying to think of places that I know have hotels lol!
I may be going for a fashion show in march at the ROM (will find out at midnight if I have tickets) and it's going to be one night and I anticipate a late night and I know public transit doesn't run all night. Plus it's going to be my super awesome birthday weekend LOL so I want to spend more money on me (and partying *cough*) than on a room that will basically be a place for me to shower and sleep for a couple hours if all goes well haha! This thread is currently associated with: N/A

There's a Holiday Inn on Bloor and St. George that's about 1 1/2 short blocks away. Using Priceline would be my preference, but you have no say as to what hotel you will end up at, and most winning bids are for hotels in the downtown core. A cab from the downtown core to the ROM runs about $15-20.

maybe I should check out priceline
thanks I was just on the tripadvisor site but I was like ok I have no idea how close or far they are from the ROM and if I am going I will be taking the train so no vehicle. I know the subway shuts down at 1:30 so if I go to after parties I won't be making it in time. I guess it's not too bad to take a taxi. Do you know if it's hard to find taxi's around that area at night? Last time I partied at lobby we had a ride so I never paid attention to these things LOL!

they should be lined up along avenue rd and there should be quite a few that drive along from yorkville. in any case, just program beck taxi (one of the biggest cab outfits in TO) into your cell and you should be alright.

I have the number for royal taxi on my old phone but I will program that one in too...waiting to hear back about the contest though and idk if I actually one
my odds were 1 in 3 because there were only three entries but they said they were contacting the winner at midnight and I wasnt contacted *sigh* this might just ruin the best birthday ever dreams I was having last night LOL

By the way, even though the subway stops there are buses that run along Yonge all night long. Same with Bloor. It depends on how comfortable you feel, but I've taken the bus at 3-4 in the morning and felt safe doing so.

Yup, there are quite a few that run all night. Check out the 'All Night Bus Routes' for the schedule - Yonge street is pretty frequent too.

Also with the bus at night, you can use the 'request stop' program which you can ask the driver to drop you off anywhere you want even where there isn't a bus stop.

You may want to try the Bond Hotel
http://www.bondplace.ca/
it is at Yonge and Dundas and I think you can get a really good deal on a room from priceline.
I'm not sure how it is inside but I do know that they just redid the whole place so it might be nice.
The other option is just to bid on priceline for the area and get whatever is the cheapest.Giving swagbucks a try, if you want to try too, sign up here : http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/jillyfree
