Is the brown sugar in stores that is sold in the 1kg, 2kg bags, etc. natural brown sugar or is it white sugar with molasses mixed in?

i believe the brown sugar normally sold is refined sugar with molasses mixed back in.

essentially the molasses is what makes it brown anyways, so they refine it all, and then mix up batches of the brown as needed

For natural brown sugar, you can get demerara sugar sometimes on sale alongside the light brown sugar; I've used it in baking and it's great. When I started using the demerara, I didn't realize that it was more 'natural' and less processed than the other!
There's another kind - muscovado, but I've never used it.

When baking foods that require brown sugar, that are gluten free recipes, I use demerara. Sometimes you will find that depending on what you are making, regular brown sugar can make the texture gritty, especially gluten recipes. Almost everything out there is so overprocessed that I really try to purchase the most natural products I can. I also use carrob instead of chocolate chips (which have gluten). Carrob in natural and tastes and looks, and acts (in cooking or baking) exactly like chocolate.....and the bonus for me, I can give my little dog a bite too and it won't harm her
