So we still have a ton of boxes packed up from our move, I was trying to find the box of baby pictures and whatnot so I could start on a newborn scrapbook. Well digging through I found a completely full jar of pennies that I had totally forgotten about!!! I had been saving these since I was 19 years old. Then I remembered that the other day at safeway I had seen a coin sorting machine thingy, you dump all of your change in and it prints a voucher for you to cash in at the till. I had to go to Walmart and Safeway was close enough as well, I was hoping to score the same Gain deal ($5.99 + BOGO) that I did last weekend, but it was $7.18 + BOGO.
So off I went with my big ziploc bag of pennies... LOL.
Walmart;;
3x Silk Almond Milk;; $3.97 - (1) $2 off & (2) FPC's = $1.99
Saved;; $9.94
OOP;; $1.99
Safeway;;
2x Gain 32 Load;; Reg $7.19 + BOGO - $3 off WUB2 = $2.09 each
So Nice Vanilla;; Reg $4.89 / $4.50 with club card - 50% off - $1.50 off = $.95
Gardien Tuscan 'chicken';; Reg $6.97 /$4.49 with club card - $2 off = $2.49
Gardien Meatless 'beef';; Reg $4.79 /$4.49 with club card - $2 off = $2.49
Saved;; $20.92
Total;; $10.79 -- used my voucher from the pennies which was $6.83
OOP;; $3.96
Most exciting part is that I still have almost a full jar of pennies!!
Went in today as I wanted to pick up some more Gardein and Gain. Well of all the packages that were there they only had the $2 peelies on very few products... I really wasn't interested in the rib one so got me some more chicken. lol.
2x Gain 24 Load;; Reg $7.19 + BOGO - $3 off WUB2 = $2.09 each
2x Gardein Tuscan 'Chicken';; Reg $6.79 / $4.49 with club card - $2 = $2.49 each
Gardein Meatless 'Beef';; Reg $5.99 / $4.49 with club card - $2 = $2.49
2x Heinz Little Kids Organic Rice Cakes;; Reg $2.99 / $2.61 with club card - $1 = $1.61 each
Saved;; $25.06
Total;; $15.89 -- used voucher from pennies which was $9.98
OOP;; $5.91

That's terrific! I don't know if you ever visit the STATES but I always sort through my change and separate out the US coins. Then when we go to the States, I have legal tender. They don't like getting CANADIAN coins. (I just showed this trick to my nephew last night - he's saving pennies for a trip on a cruise boat next year.)

I think those machines charge quite a fee, like 12%. Convenient, but pricey.

9.8% fee if you want a cash redemption.
But the 9.8% fee is waived if you have the money put onto a Safeway GiftcardLast edited by shmeelady; Thu, Jun 21st, 2012 at 05:06 PM.

Yes, I am quite impressed as well!!
Going to go again tonight and try to stock up on more while it's still on sale. Hopefully there are still packages with the $2 peelies, I might have to dig through the shelves to find them but the $2 ones are so much worth it than the $1.
