RIP, so very sad - Conservative MP Jim Hillyer found dead in his Parliament Hill office at the age of 41
MP for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner (AB)
Hillyer was first elected in 2011 and re-elected in 2015, with 69 per cent of the vote.
The cause of his death is not yet known.
He survived a battle with leukemia in 2003.
Wednesday's question period was cancelled. Instead, leaders from each of the five political parties represented in the Commons offered memories of Hillyer and messages of condolence to his family.
(Interim Conservative Leader Rona) Ambrose told the Commons that Hillyer was passionate about his fight for a stronger justice system.
The southern Alberta MP, she said, was very open, honest and humble and had a "goofy sense of humour."
Hillyer is survived by his wife, Livi, and their four children: London, Taylor, Nation and Asia.

@Patty Smyth
So, how will your family be helped by the budget?
Your community, your city, your province?
What did you like about it?
C'mon, some positive posts!Last edited by Natalka; Wed, Mar 23rd, 2016 at 10:36 PM.

7, I believe. 4 of them during the worst recession since the depression and while the Conservatives had minority governments and the opposition insisted on spending. There's no recession now though, right?
I just doublechecked and it was 6 years of deficit.

But hey, might as well say 10.

Karadzic convicted of genocide, gets 40-year sentence
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - A U.N. war crimes court convicted former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic of genocide and nine other charges on Thursday for orchestrating a campaign of terror that left 100,000 people dead during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia, the worst carnage in Europe since World War II.
Karadzic was sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in Serb atrocities that included the Srebrenica massacre in which 8,000 Muslim men and boys were slaughtered in Europe's worst mass murder since the Holocaust, and for directing the nearly four-year siege of Sarajevo.
(He's 70)

British businesswoman ships Siamese cat along with order:
A pet cat called Cupcake has spent over a week in the post, after apparently falling asleep in a box.
Owner Julie Baggott did not spot the animal when she packed up a box of DVDs and sent it off to a customer.
Eight days later, the female cat arrived in Worthing, West Sussex, after somehow surviving the 260-mile journey from Falmouth in Cornwall.
The customer was understandably “somewhat startled”, vets said, when the box of DVDs was opened and Cupcake jumped out.

Patty, I was being serious with asking about the federal budget, not joking, not baiting... not at all.
I thought it would be nice if you could come on here and post positive things which you are liking, so we could maybe understand - and then it would not seem all negative from us.
I guess the mistake I made was directing the comments to you, it should have been to all L supporters - but it was just done in curiosity about your part of the world. Things are very different here in the west.
It was to give you - and others - a chance. I think since the election, we have been waiting for reports from posters on how the government has been doing - and I waited to hear - about the refugees, about the climate change conference, about the international trips, the White House, and now the budget.
Why NOT post the positive things, the things you like? I was being honest in asking.
It wasn't coming from a place of bitterness - and I sure am not.
No more than you are or have been - apparently/seemingly.
