Hamilton native and founding member of Lighthouse,
Skip Prokop, has died at the age of 73.

As the drummer and a vocalist in the Juno award-winning act, Prokop helped define the sound of rock and roll on Canadian airways in the 1970s.
Lighthouse was Canada's answer to Chicago, with the 13-piece rock/jazz ensemble releasing hits like Sunny Days and One Fine Morning.

Prokop was also a founding member of the Canadian psychedelic rock band The Paupers, and did session work with artists like Peter, Paul and Mary, Carlos Santana and Janis Joplin.
Prokop also wrote I'd Be So Happy, from Three Dog Night's 1974 album Hard Labour.
Lighthouse won the Juno Award for best Canadian group for three consecutive years from 1972 to 1974.

I'm not a huge country fan, but I have enjoyed his songs.

Don Williams, Country's 'Gentle Giant,' Dead at 78

"In giving voice to songs like 'Good Ole Boys Like Me,' 'Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good' and 'Amanda,' Don Williams offered calm, beauty, and a sense of wistful peace that is in short supply these days," Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young said in a statement Friday. "His music will forever be a balm in troublesome times. Everyone who makes country music with grace, intelligence, and ageless intent will do so while standing on the shoulders of this gentle giant."

Famed Winnipegger Monty Hall dead at 96

Monty Hall, the genial host and co-creator of “Let’s Make a Deal,” the game show on which contestants in outlandish costumes shriek and leap at the chance to see if they will win the big prize or the booby prize behind door No. 3, died at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Saturday. He was 96.
A daughter, Joanna Gleason, confirmed his death. She said the cause was heart failure.

this poor soul....so so very young.
    R.I.P. Ralphie May

Comedian Ralphie May died Friday at the age of 45 ... TMZ has learned.
Ralphie had been battling pneumonia over the last week, but kept performing his scheduled gigs in Las Vegas.

Ralphie's stand-up comedy career took off after he finished second on "Last Comic Standing" in 2003. Since then he's had several televised comedy specials -- mostly on Netflix and Comedy Central -- and he's continued touring, almost nonstop, around the country.

In 2015 he and his wife Lahna Turner, also a comedian, filed for divorce. Ralphie was devastated by the split and the ensuing custody battle over their 2 kids, April June May and August James May.

I really had no idea he was just 53 years old. I knew his songs to hear them but was never a follower. Seems I missed out on he life of a pretty decent human being. This guy was so loved and will be missed, the airwaves were playing and replaying his songs, and the hosts were all choked up talking about him.
