Thanks everyone .. turns out that the rules and contest info had the dates wrong it was listed as Aug 5 when in fact it was on tonight? I called the contest organizer and they offered a trip to next years awards or a California adventure vacation. We took the vacation pkg and are just waiting for the man to call me back as I had to fastrack our passport applications first. I am hoping they will make it worth our while .. as we have to give at least 10 days notice at work for time off and even if we had our passports we could not have gotten off of work in time. Will keep you all posted ... he seemed very nice and said he would make it work our while .. considering the estimated value of $17,500 it should be~~

So we got airfare, hotel for 8 nights, car rental and tickets to Sea World, Disneyland two park tickets for 3 days and Universal ... Whoot whoot it actually worked out better for us that the dates got mixed up. Very excited!

I found this for you and there must be tons more. http://www.urbanspoon.com/pr/5/1/LA/Cheap-Eats.html I wish i thought to look at this last time i went on vacation in the states. With a little research you can find yourself some great inexpensive places to eat.

Now if you get the chance to coupon down there and slip away i would stick to the drugstores. Riteaid, walgreens and cvs have great deals. I would just check to see what might be close to your hotel and decide from there. orrrr you could just go on vaction and have fun and no worries... whatever works for you! Congrats on a fantastic win!!!

Just wondering and please don't take it the wrong way .. this is my first contest win.. so the estimated value in the rules in $17.800/00
air fare is $2000 flying west jet economy
Car rental ? 1000
Hotel unknown
Tickets to Disneyland Seaworld and Universal appr 2100 This is a total of $5100, so even if I estimated the hotel at $4000 the new total would be $9100.00 am I missing something here?? Thats a difference of $8700 should I ask for more ... I don't know ... HELP!!
