What exactly is the BEST way to go about pricematching ?!?

I've seen people go w/cart in tow DIRECTLY to Cust Svc.

I've also read horror stories about Price Matching too...

I still have some $$$ left on a WM GiftCard
and I am hoping to do some pricematching there tomorrow.

I also plan on couponing the heck out of everything too!

    Thanks in Advance!

I just take the flyer with me and show the cashier before she rings in the item. No problems for me and I do it lots at various stores (ie. price match and use coupons).

I'd say I save more money by price matching then using coupons. I make sure I circle the item with a permanent black marker so they don't have to search all over the page or so that they can see what item it is when they grab it from my hands so I can no long point to the picture.

What I do is I put all my stuff up on the belt at a regular cashier and then I get my flyers ready that I will be using and place them on each item. If I want to use the flyer for two items then I put those items together on the belt.

I find it helps greatly to write on the top front page of the flyer what exactly you have circled in it.

    my personal method is:

i have a list with store headings

    no frills
    -minute maid .44

    food basics
    -cheese black diamond $4.97-75cent coupon.

    ^^example

i then have everything separated by store on the belt itself.

i show the flyer as the cashier scans and give coupons over for each individual item as we go through them

this method ensures nothing is missed and everything gets priced correctly.
Feel free to use my shop.ca referral link! Tons of products and great deals! http://www.shop.ca?plcktb=ZwVwXmoC0

I put my grocery on the belt and place the flyer under the item and circle that particular product. If the want to check the date on the flyer they themselves can do it. Never have any problem.
if buying lots of things from sme flyer I group them together and let the cashier know when they start scanning that group
As for the coupons I just ask the cashiers how they prefer it. Most says they will take it at the end

I make my grocery list and keep it with my flyers for the bigger shopping trips. For price matching at walmart i go through the full list on a envelope and price check every store when i find a lower price like at RCSS i write RCSS pg _ beside the item and i have it circled and i put all the coupons in the envelope. Any cashier can price match so you don't need to go to customer service.

That is my system but i still carry 2 binders full of coupons because they have discounted items and i never know what i will need. The most important thing is just finding a system that works for you. Good luck and i hope you save your bunz off!

Usually I take all of the flyers, and look through everything before I start circling unless I can get it for free or a really low price. I always check the cheapest prices for produce and such. then I circle with a permanent marker and mark if I am using a coupon or not by writing "cpn $x off." I then write it in a notebook with a heading of the store and the total price with coupons. Then at the cash register, I save all price matching last and then start to take out the flyers and put the flyer on the conveyor belt and look at the notebook to see what I am price matching at that store. I will then place all items price matched at that store on the store flyer. Usually don't have a problem, you just have to make sure if it says selected varieties, which means you can only get the items in the picture. Also make sure to check sizes!

I disagree about the selected varities thing. I've only had that problem at Zellers and well we all know where they are headed!

My WM is very good with PM'ing if something says selected varities they will let me get whichever kind I want. If it doesn't specify a size and I honestly have no idea then they don't really care what size I get to be honest. But for example obviously a smaller detergent bottle looks different then those biggest ones that have the push button.

It also comes down to knowing which stores in your specific area are best for price matching.

    Thanks Everyone!
I don't have a Binder (not enough coupons yet...)
but I have my own system that works well for me!

I use make up bags from Dollarama
    Sm i use for P&G / Save.ca / WebSaver
    Md I use for inserts
    Lg I use for Tearpads
    XL for printables

I just find it more convenient than lugging around a binder

    B/c we walk almost everywhere
(Keep in mind I live within Crawling distance of Safeway/Walmart/RCSS/SDM)
I take the kid's wagon with me (Its fairly big) and load up !
Never have to pay for Gas, Insurance/repairs etc etc
Occasionally will bus down to Sobeys & GT so at most I'm out $2.45 as I can do BOTH on the same transfer!

I take my own bags and Freezer bags too!

I love price matching and I just did a bunch at Walmart today, even though I had an issue with using my coupons and price matching at the same time, darn walmart (see my new threads posted if you want details). I always check my flyers at home and circle each item I am going to match. I also write a list of the circled items on the front page of the flyer on the very top so I know what flyer to use for each item. The key is to come prepared with your coupons and a shopping list. I note the price matched items after my regular items on the list. You can even divide your cart with price matched items separate if you need to. It helps at the cash if you can't keep track of everything

At the cash, I put the regular priced items up first then I organize my matching while those are being rang in so I have enough time to get organized. I also save any item with a coupon for last. I just point to each item in the flyer, for the cashier. If I feel I won't have time to get completely organized, I will put up a bar between my regular items and my matched items. I allows the cashier to stop and wait for a second without ringing everything in. It usually goes well, with the exception of today LOL.

Thank you will take some of these last ideas for getting ready for when I am shopping on my own as usually DH puts everything on the belt while I stare down the register to make sure prices are going in at the right price but I won't be able to anymore. Love the idea of putting the stick/bar in between if needed.

Am I the only person that still goes store to store?
I am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.
If you have any to trade please PM me.

I guess I shouldn't make it sound like I do it by choice. We're not allowed in PM in Saskatchewan & if by some miracle we did get to I'm sure they wouldn't take a coupon or PM more than 1 of each item
