Take two email coupons (Staples is 10% off of entire purchase; Old Navy's is 25% off entire purchase). Add two free-to-me gift cards, one for $50 at Staples from my credit card rewards (that came from less than two months of regular bill-paying on the CC), another for $50 at Old Navy (swapped a US gift card that was a birthday prezzie with a friend who can use while on vacation down south).
End result? Two teens are set up for back-to-school needs with cheap printer paper, a printer cartridge, pens, pencils, post-its, binders and lined paper. They're also set for the end of summer and start of school clothing with pants, skirts, cardigans and tees.
Both are girls so back to school usually means LOTS of clothes but the sale helped. There were lots on sale such as polo shirts for $8 and yoga pants for $15.
I only spent $124 out of pocket. Two years ago, before I found SC? I would have spent that much on back to school supplies alone and not been even close to done.

Thanks! It helps that Eldest has a part time job so she buys some of her own clothes. And she reminded me that I still have to buy shoes, but I hold off on those until the last minute because, if I don't, they're worn out before Thanksgiving break.
With my Staples purchase, the clerk added in a free sample of their new 'heavyweight' writing paper along with a 50cent coupon for the same - you might ask about that if you're going in over the next few weeks. I don't think I'd pay for fancier lined paper but a freebie's a freebie!

Hah, sorry, avoncallingu. Eldest is an office-supply addict and loves to get stuff for back-to-school so we got it all early and now it's stowed away. Won't talk about it anymore.

And you're so right Shwa Girl. It WAS that easy!
