Was at LD tonight to pick up diapers & they have now implemented a new policy.....please be aware!!

Couponers are now allowed to purchase only TWO (2) of a like item in each trip. So for example, I was able to purchase the following tonight as it was 2 of each:
    2 x Sz 1 Pampers
    2 x Sz 2 Pampers
    2 x Sz 3 Pampers
    2 x Sz 5 Pampers
    2 x Sz 6 Pampers
    2 x Sz 7 Pampers

Another example would be (from what I understand, from how it was explained):
    2 x Lavender Satin Care
    2 x Vanilla Satin Care
    2 x Avocado Satin Care
2 x Venus Embrace Razors Pink
2 x Venus Embrace Razors Green
2 x Secret Trial Size Deoderant
    2 x Secret Small Deoderant
    2 x Secret Large Deoderant

This is due to their trucks delivering less than they normally do & to try to prevent clearing of shelves, especially on sale items as this has been happening quite frequently lately due to the increase in couponers in our city.

I spoke with Clint (manager) this evening and he did advise that if we wish to use our coupons towards more than 2 items, they will order things in for us & it will come in with their next shipments, so this will allow you to purchase multiple like items all at once using coupons.

I specifically asked if they will honor sale prices if we choose to utilize this option and he confirmed that if they are ordered during a specific sale, then when the product comes in the sale price will be honored. I'm not sure of exactly how this process will work since it's new & I haven't yet tried it, but it's nice to know that they are offering this service to us as an option

I did ask if we are able to 'pre-pay' for our purchases the day that we place an order and he stated that we would pay using our coupons once the order comes in. My only concern with this is expiry dates of coupons and if the order doesn't come in before the coupons expire, then perhaps they will allow the pre-payment of the order in that circumstance?

If anyone tried this before I'm able to get back to do so, please let us know what your experience was with the special ordering & what the process is that they are following!

Thanks Please share this info with anyone you know that coupons at the Red Deer LD location that may not read posts on SC just so as many people can be aware of the policy change BEFORE they head in to do a big stock-up and get turned down or disappointed!

Thanks for posting I haven't been in since before Christmas (shock!!) so I was wondering if things had changed....from reading posts from other people in other towns I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before ours started implementing some changes.

Thank you for the heads-up!! Doesn't seem that restrictive at all - I think it's great they will order in for people wanting to make larger purchases... I always wondered about that at our location.

Thanks for posting! It's not so bad I guess. Here when I saw the title I was so worried that they stopped coupon stacking and I almost fainted. lol if they still allow stacking then I can live with limits and special ordering if I would need to. after all LD is doing us a HUGE favour allowing the coupon stacking so we should be grateful for what they allow right? it seems reasonable and I can see the position they are in. It also makes it more possible for more people to take advantage of a sale if there are limits. instead of a few taking a whole bunch-everyone gets a share of it.

Another quick note about our LD - if you have read about other cities and their price matching & couponing policies, you'll see that ours is quite easy going when it comes to any PM. Please, please, please do not give the ladies a hard time if something is out of stock where you wish to PM to. They can't control stock & they're not going to change the policy just because you complain to them about it. In fact, it could end up like in some other LDs where they don't allow PMing and coupons on the same item, or limit you to 1 PM.

I don't personally PM, because I find sales usually come around, but mention it because there was one individual who had at least 3 PMs (diff stores) and complained/was cranky/rude when 2 were not in stock. I would hate for one person to ruin it for everyone else - so please be considerate of the cashier's feelings when your PMs don't work out as you'd like. Perhaps a "thank you for checking?" or at least nothing negative.

I don't PM as this makes the cashiers cranky I find. The sales always come around at LD. So I just wait patiently. The new policy is interesting. I guess more smaller shops are in order.

Yeah, ditto... things go on sale eventually and with the stacking of coupons, possibilities are endless.

Last thing, I think, I price matched was cheese... to Zellers... just HAD to get that rush of getting FREE cheese, LMAO! But... no more... lol!

I truly am stocked up on it all now... LD won't help me much. Maybe more of those Clean & Clear Advantage kits... love those, LOL!!

Oh, oops, and edit... THANKS for letting us know!!!!!!!!!

I usually wait for sales as well, too much time is put into to PMing and i just want to make things quicker and easier, considering as a couponer, we do take up quite a bit of timeLOL! And yes, with the new policy, i guess it will be smaller stacking trips...but that's okay...it'll be faster Thanks for posting!

I did a small stack on Friday morning. At the end of it I asked the cashier about the limit of 4. She said it was a limit of 2. I had forgotten so I said yeah the limit of 2 then. I mentioned how I read it on Smartcanucks. She said Oh good the lady put it on. I asked her some questions just to clarify exactly what we could purchase but she didn't really seem to know. She said a limit of 2. I said of different UPC's and she said no just 2. Like 2 Tide. Not 2 Tide of each flavour.

So then I mentioned that I just did my stacking wrong then because I got 4 Kleenex (different colours) and 4 Kotex (3 the same and 1 different). And she said Oh well I guess you did. But didn't seem to be mad or even bothered by it.

So needless to say it was confusing. I thought 4 but just remembered wrong so that's my fault but if all the cashiers don't even know all the rules then how are we suppose to get it right?

Anyone else with some imput? Did you shop this weekend at LD?

Perhaps it's more of a way of hittin' the silly ones that go all out... if you come to the till with 3 or 4 of 1 item, and the overall pile is not huge.. meh... might be okay.. but if you have 4 or 5 of every item and your pile is huge.. okay, clamp down.. ONLY 2 is allowed! hmm?

*shrugs* I don't see this affecting me much... but ask em again in a year or two when my stash isn't... so stashed.. lOL

I was there on Wednesday and I respected the 2 item limit and had mentioned I was coming back in later that day cause I wanted a few more of the same items. The cashier told me if its a few things its not a biggie. They just dont want to see huge stacks where the shelves are being wiped clean. There concern is that when this happens it becomes so long before they can stock them again. And in the fairness of other shopers. I wouldnt stress to much on the 2 item limit but dont push it too much either. Such as if your doing 3 items for the WUB3 gillette and are getting all razors...no biggie. Good Luck!

They only had to implement the policy because there were a few people who would come in and completely clear the shelves (ie: one person took all the cascade action packs when there were quite a few left.) Again, an example of a few ruining it for many.

Right now the policy is lax because they want to make people aware that there is a problem - so hopefully we all try to respect it, and they won't mind the odd time you need more than a couple of an item (for example to make your coupons work, or to save yourself a trip back for only 2 items). I think it will be fine as long as people don't try to take advantage of the laxness - then we might see strict enforcement (as they will have no choice) or worse yet, more limiting policies like some other ld's that only allow 2 of a 'certain' item, regardless of 'flavour' or size.

Right now I'm happy there are no concrete rules or strict enforcement...hopefully we can keep it that way.

Thanks for some input everyone. I was thinking the same thing. That if it was over the 2 limit but you had a small stack and there were plenty left on the shelf that it would be OK. For example WUB3 Gillette. If you were buying 3 deoderants at one time. I would definately try to get 3 different flavours. But hopefully they would still let it go through.
I guess if we respect them and their policies they will respect us.
