We bought a trailer and on the sides is a lot of adhesive from the previous owners, you can clearly still see their business name and phone number. How can I remove that? Without going out and buying some special product.

I know my dbf would use gasoline. It stinks, but removes a lot of things from surfaces. He's removing caulking from a gutter right now. Test it on a small inconspicuous area first. Good luck

WD-40 works quite well; I even used to use it to get crayon off painted walls in the house when the kids were little.

I'm not sure about WD40, but I've used nail polish remover and hairspray to remove permanent marker from a whiteboard in my classroom at school.

Nail polish remover with acetone in it removed permanent marker off everything I've tried it on, including clothes.

Lighter fluid. It removes grease marks, glue and sticky substances, ink, from any surface, especially fabrics without leaving staining or marks. My husband was in the upholstery for over 50 years and they used it on everything from silk to vinyl. Takes out the worst sticky messes.

Doesn't lighter fluid stink? (Just thinking about a carpet stain I'd like to really get out.)

I use peanut butter to get off adhesive from stickers on products. I don't know if it would work on the trailor and it might cost a lot before you finished with the cost of peanut butter these days. Plus, it might attract squirrels and bluejays!
