Grass is turning yellow! We just got it too!

OK DH and I just put in new grass awhile back and everything was great with it NOW it is all yellow looking! I have watered it, put those special seed things on it everything! I seriously don't want to go and get new grass! Like because of this heat it is killing it! I water the grass all the time! UGH! Also, my beautiful plants/flowers are also not doing to well because of this heat! I am just mad because we spent alot of money to get the best grass and now it is dieing on us!

I'm not a grass expert.
If it's the Kentucky Blue grass or a blend like it, it's dormant.
The weather has been harsh in Oshawa too.

It rained yesterday (mega!) so maybe the grass will spring back.

We had sod put in about a month ago. Ours is very lush and green despite the heat. We water it in the evening and in the morning.

It can help to put a bit of soil over yellow patches, and then water like crazy. We're finding that mulch in the flower beds helps to keep things nice and moist.

Thanks for advice everyone. Ya it rain mega here to! BUT I am still going to water the grass and flowers when I get home tonight. I am also going to put some more soil on it and see what happens. Like next door to me has this really nice green grass and than there is mine...death grass lol.

Like this weekend I am so going to be working in the front and back of my house. I have to do something. I think i might also go by a lawn care place and see what they also reccomend.

The weather has done a good job in contributing to this, if you have fairly fresh sod then you should be watering it VERY frequently if you would like to keep it green
In my neighbourhood I see the same thing, maybe 3-4 green lawns and the rest are nice and crispy - you can tell the difference in who is taking extra care of their lawns
Try to fertilize a couple spots to see if it will make a difference (wouldn't go too crazy, just a few small areas)- but make sure you water it otherwise it will burn your grass

DH and I have been watering it, maybe I am overlly watering it??? Well either way I am watering LOL. My poor grass, use to be so green now it looks like a dog or cat left yellow spots on it from peeing lol

Gosh, it could be so many things...

Make sure you are deep watering, not just on top. Water early morning or late evening only.
Don't cut your lawn too short.
Have you fertilized? Even leaving the lawn clippings can help.

How new is your sod? A lot of the time people think they are watering new sod too much BUT new sod needs A LOT of water - once you get it going you won't need as much, but initially you have to soak that grass so that it takes properly. I know the hydro bill will sky rocket, but trust me it is much cheaper to water the hell of it then having to re-sod your whole property

I would also suggest to see if your new sod is rooting - check the corners of your grass, I am sure you can find one somewhere, and try and pull it up, if it pulls up with ease it is not rooting and you may have bigger issues down the road

We had our sod on the first week of June. Then it turned yellow by early July because of the intense heat. we just watered it every other day and now they're getting green again.

Thanks Natalka for the advice, I do water alot, sometimes over water it lol. And I have not been cutting it to much lately as I want it to grow. I have not left though the clippings maybe I will try that.

Lessthannat-It is like 3 months old. Ya I will check for sure if it is rooting or not.
