Got a postcard in the mail today from SDM

They will be having a 'Spend Your Points Event'

    Saturday September 8th & Sunday September 9th

Spend 25,000 points and get up to $50 off (extra $16)
Spend 50,000 points and get up to $110 off (extra $25)
Spend 95,000 points and get up to $220 off (extra $50)

Exceptions are the regulars I believe (tobacco, prescriptions, products with codeine, stamps, passport photos, lottery, event tickets, gift cards, prepaid cards) Not to be used in conjunction with any other Shoppers Optimum points promotions or offers.

Not sure if this is just the west, but thought I would post.

I got one of these cards and I am in the East so it might be an all Canada thing.

We've only been collecting SDM points for about 5 months now, can someone tell me what a Mega Redemption is? I understand its a redemption that is bigger and better than the rest - but how much better? We have 50,000 to use, and $110 is looking pretty good, just wondering how much better it could be for the mega redemption in December everyone talks about?

Quite honestly its only a $15 difference from this redemption and Mega redemption. Last years mega redemption 50k in points was $125 and 95k in points was $250. So if there are things you NEED now then use your points now since your not losing out on much of a difference.

totally agree with ashley. it was so hard trying to find $250 at last year's redemption. ended up buying a whole of crap. so if there's stuff you need now, go for it! the specials around the big redemption aren't that great.

I've never done a redemption. Do you still earn optimum points on what you're buying if you're also redeeming?

You can definitely EARN points when you redeem if there is products with bonus points when you buy them or if you have bonus points coupons for when you buy certain products or spend a certain amount. Last redemption I did I redeemed 50k in points and earned back over half of them..can't remember the exact amount.

Thanks! I would only have enough to redeem $50 so I'm undecided about redeeming still, but I just might if they have some good bonus point promotions.
