Just time for a quickie "Good Morning" everyone...I just iced my hot-cross buns, have to frost my carrot/raisin/coconut/pineapple cake, gather together a few little gifts for our grandson....yes, today is Easter since the kids like to have a relaxing Sunday before work on Monday, altho' DD is trying not to go in on Monday unless she feels guilty about needing to do some paperwork...lol...
So HAPPY EASTER everyone!!!!
Yum, Lynn, you've been busy! I've only ever had a hot cross bun from a grocery store bakery - oh, and it was nasty. Not a tradition we grew up with.
Hope to do some baking this weekend; not sure what yet.
Oh, Natalka, these are SO good. Too good. NOT for someone who's dieting...
I HAD to sample for quality control purposes, right?
I actually took a pic of my Easter cake.....I'll post it, probably tomorrow when things get quiet. Right now I'm on here drying my nails because if I was anywhere else, I'd be doing something to smudge 'em...Happy Easter, Hon!
afternoon all.. who ever's in here.. or later..
busy morning here. up at 6 to go to FB and get PB/Bananas.
back to bed for 3 hours. WHOOPS. thanks hubby. that was only supposed to to be 30 minutes. not 3 hours.... sigh..
going to make dinner/easter treats (hopefully) and then get ready for Easter vigil service.

anyway thats my weekend so far. loving the weather... take care for now..
Resurection (Easter Satudrday) cookies.
You need:
1c. whole nuts - peanuts, pecans, whatever you like
1 tsp. vinegar
3 egg whites
pinch salt
1c. sugar
zip-loc or other plastic baggie
wooden spoon
duct tape
Preheat oven to 300.
Place the nuts inside the plastic bag and have the children pound on them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested He was beaten by the Roman soldiers.
John 19:1-3
Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. vinegar into mixing bowl. Explain about how, when Jesus was thirsty on the cross. he was given vinegar to drink.
John 19:28-30
Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life. Talk about how Jesus gave His life to give us life.
John 10:10-11
Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, [and/or the bitterness of our own sin].
Luke 23:27
So far the ingredients are not very yummy.
Add 1c. sugar. and talk about the sweetest part of the story - that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him.
Ps. 34:8 and John 3:16
Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed.
Talk about the color white as an image of purity, for all whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus.
Isa. 1:18 and John 3:1-3.
Fold in broken nuts.
Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheet.
You could say that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid.
Matt. 27:57-60.
Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF.
Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door.
Talk about Jesus' tomb being sealed and guarded.
Matt. 27:65-66.
GO TO BED!
The kids will probably not be happy to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed.
John 16:20 and 22.
On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie.
The cookies are hollow! On the first Easter Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty.
Matt. 28:1-9
Hello Everyone,
Just stopping by to say "hi", and here's hoping that eveyone is having a great weekend/Easter so far, continue to enjoy whatever it is your doing/might do. Later.
Tired of sitting and watching the 10 commandments - it's awesome, but oh... so very long! So I thought I'd stop by here and just listen to it in the background.
