Campbell didn't get thrown under the bus, she wandered into the street on her own (before she became PM, I watched a news conference that she gave where she got every single fact wrong). A close friend of mine was working on Parliament Hill when all this was going on & confirmed my theory that she didn't have many connected brain cells.

She was hot though, so I voted for her...

Dave do you think that Harper will stick around for another term? If not who would you like to see step up as his replacement?

I have no doubt at all that he'll be running in the next election. As for a replacement, I dunno. McKay maybe?

I kind of figured he would run (like most others), but have no opinion on him, partly because I don't keep up to date on Liberal politics as much as I should if it doesn't concern the party's platform. Good luck to him, though!

Strangely pretty with a former Miss World as wife...think this is the Tories answer to Trudeau! Although he has a bit of a rep for indiscretions, leaving confidential files at some chick's house, using military planes and showing up with some chick on his arm with quite the bare rack (odd how I can't remember her name...though she was memorable...) At least he's finally married. But he doesn't strike me as someone who knows how to stay away from scandal.

I think you're mixing him up with Maxime Bernier on some of that. (files, gf).

No actually I believe people in office should not let their private life be on display to the public(none of my business) but yes that was a sign of weakness to me and wishy washy. It's why I despise the american race. They always try to dig up crap. I don't care what religion you are, who you are with , whether or not you are gay . That part is none of my business as long as it doesn't come into your politics. Unfortunately it is creeping in more and more here too. Seperation of church and state and of public and private lives.

I agree with much of what you say. A heckuva lot of it. But it's the media. We have freedom of speech here and freedom of the media (and that's a good thing). That means that they sometimes pander to the lowest common denominator. Viewers mean revenue for the media empires. There isn't any way to stop that without revoking fundamental values we hold as a society. As long as people want the salacious details of the lives of people in the public eye, the media will provide. It's one of the reasons some of our best and brightest choose to never seek public office.

I'm sorry, I can't fault a man for having a heart.

ETA: There is no 'American Race', and I disagree with hating them. Their culture, in a lot of places, needs some work, I agree.
