I went to London drugs today with my daughter to use up my soon to expire coupons. I was price matching soup from RCSS at .50 a can but there was a limit of 6. I could only buy 4 to use my coupons effectively. I asked my daughter if she would buy some soup for me. She was a little reluctant, but after I was done my order she carefully put her soup on the counter and handed the cashier her RCSS ad. Once the soup was rung in, the cashier told my daughter that it came to $2. My daughter produced her 2 $1 coupons ($1 off 4 campbells soups tear pad& $1 off 4 campbells products tear pad) and paid for all the soup with only coupons. It was like paying with play money only she bought real food.

    Awesome.

All my kids know how to use coupons as they have helped in the past so now that they are teens if I am not feeling well it's not a problem for them to run to the store for me and shop and save with coupons.

It's great teaching them young. My 15 year old has said all along that she will never use coupons, but the other day when I was buying free makeup she said "you will keep shopping for me after I move out won't you?". It's a great thing to teach them the value of saving money.

its great for them to learn young that coupons can be a highly effective tool, my toodles has been thrilled with the McD's valentines coupons (free ice cream, and fries very thrilling for her!)

I only started using and learning about coupons since January. My 17 year old daughter was a bit embarassed when she went to the store with me. That only lasted until she realized I could get her free hair dye and makeup - now she comes home with coupons for me.

Thats exactly why my dd16 has no problem with coupons. Her friends come and shop in her make up cupboard for hair dye and and extras and because they are all free shes fine with it. They keep saying I wish my mom used coupons, lol.

We need to educate our young! Way to go, showing your 9 year old how smart she will be when she becomes a grown up consumer!!

When DD was younger, she used to be so embarassed shopping with me because it took me forever at the cash, using so many coupons, arguing, holding up the line, etc. She used to say, I'll be over there. Through the years, she sees that with points at Zellers and SDM, I could get lots of stuff for her for free. Now when we shop, I go and load my cart and she goes around the store and looks for good coupons that people have posted here or find new ones that we will use.

I definitely agree, you have to teach them when they are young.

I'm a newbie, just started this month, though I don't have any children yet, I can empathize will all of you. When I first started my husband would be really annoyed when I used coupons or even picked them up. That only lasted a week. He recently called me from work the other day telling me that he went to SDM on his lunch break to buy the infamous adidas deodorant. When the cashier hassled him, he just called upon the manager and told them that they get reimbursed from the company anyway so it shouldn't pose a problem, needless to say he got his 3 deodorant! That was my "proud couponing wife" moment..hehe I can only imagine how great it feels when your kids respond positively too!
